About Henry Morton

Henry Morton Stanley was met at the Congo river while traveling across the Congo on an exploration expedition in 1874 to 1877. He later met King leopold after his exploration of the Congo and decided to help him by claiming the land for king leopold as his own. He soon had taken orders from king leopold to export their materials since their land was rich with materials that Belgium needed to make money. From day 1 he has tortured and abused the Congolese people for materials. He even had multiple chances to help and rise against Leopold but he didn't and decided to kill millions of people and cut off hands to punish them.

This makes him mostly responsible for the death of 10,000,000 Congolese people because he was involved with killing and torturing them along with trying to blame all of the bad things on King leopold since he worked with him. He could have betrayed him and stood up for the Congolese people but he didn't and that was all on him because that was his choice and he didn't do it.

This proves that since his first day in the congo he has abused Congolese people for money because all he wanted was money. He claimed to "discover" a new place and took all of the people that inhabited there as slaves to export their own materials. He forced them to and threatened to kill them or their families if they didn't meet quota or cut of their hands to "prove" that they had power.

"You might try and blame everything on Leopold, but your journals and letters show that what you cared most about was glory and fame. You did not care about the people you traveled with at all either. Your exploration group started with 356 people in the Congo River basin, but when it was over, only 114 were still alive."

This proves that all of this was because he only cared that he would survive and he would get all of the fae and money from this. He didn't care about the Congolese people or his own expedition crew because if he did, he would have helped to the best of his ability and turn on king leopold but he didn't and that is all on him since it was 100% his choice. He even thought that since he worked for King Leopold he could blame everything he did since leopold was in charge but he wasn't there to give personal orders.

"During your expeditions you forced Congolese workers to break rocks and level off ground for a road and railway across impossibly difficult land. You stood by and allowed European soldiers and leaders to abuse and treat Congolese workers with extreme cruelty. You were even given credit for being a hard worker because you posed for photographs where you were “working” alongside the natives."

He was constantly contributing to torturing them and killing them for fame and money. He was the reason that people wanted rubber tires and made quotas for them and if they didn't they wouldn't see their families.
