Do you know farmers are committing suicide not only in India but across World like USA , Europe.

Because soil is not fertile enough to produce food. Imagine growing tree in desert. They are facing same hardships.

The problem does not lie with farmers and any debt but the soil degradation.

By 2050, 90% of Earth's soil could be degraded, unless we act now. UNCCD, 2020

So Sadhguru has taken this initiative to spread awareness about this soil degradation by rallying 30,000 km in 100 days across 24 countries

Increasing awareness about soil degradation is important for me as I want to have good food security for my family and next generation.

I wanted to know what it means for soil to become extinct. The reasons behind it. When I explored a bit, I found out that for soil to be soil, it has to have organic content. Leaves, animal dropping, earthworm and microorganisms make up the organic content in the soil.

The industrial farming has depleted these organic content in the soil, resulting in 67% of nutritional drop in the food we eat. UN Food and Agricultural agency says there is only 60 yrs worth of agricultural soil left on this globe.

So how can we reverse this? Well, first and foremost by bringing awareness to this problem.

Sadhguru, a mystic and a visionary from Isha Foundation in India is going on a bike rally criss-crossing 24 countries, 30,000 km, 100 days, commencing on March 21st, 2022, to bring to people's notice around the world to this issue. This is part of a global movement called Conscious Planet, which hopes to bring at least 3 million voting population aware and ready to act.

I chose to be part of this movement, because of the track record of Sadhguru and Isha Foundation in mobilising such movements in the past, such as Project Green Hands and the recent Rally for Rivers/Cauvery Calling. I trust them and am willing to give my time and effort to this movement, to make sure I don't push this problem to my grandchildren to deal with.

at first i though soil is just an excuse to save water and filter air or stuff. but experts are saying this is THE most important issue for humanity. without soil we cant eat food. food doesnt grow in the supermarket.

Me: Its about the soil. Most countries nowadays not taking care of soil, or not doing it the right way. Soil quality drop, food production drop, quality drop, nutrients drop, sooner or later our favorite foods like this Nasi Lemak might not be accessible or might not even be able to grow liao. UN reports say 60 years of farmable soil left.

1. Demonstration (Rich Soil vs Sand)

Soil (with organic content) vs Sand (Soil without organic content

A. This is rich soil (show them how it feels).
B. This is sand (sprinkle the sand and pour it into the container by hand).

2. Intro to Presentation
Rich Soil is where these (real fruits on hand) came from. Which of these is your favorite?

(Varied answers)

Because of this richness, the plants grow, bear fruit, and support humankind and animals.

But did you know, that the Global Agricultural is already degraded by 52%?
and will become degraded over 90% by 2050?

What does that Mean? When this Rich SOil loses its capacity to grow food, losing its organic content to it. It becomes SAND, it becomes a desert. It is not capable of cultivating and producing crops.

What happens when the earth's soil turns into sand, into a desert completely?

What happens to your favorite fruit? how will it be produced? How will you grow it?

- Rally 30000 km 100 days 27 countries. by a 65-year old Lone Motorcyclist

This movement is important to me because I have children and I also have health problems. I would love to ensure that my children and the next generation of Earth live on with healthy soil and healthy crops. I would want to do everything to ensure, that all of you here, never run out of the fruits you so love.

How does it feel when you are hungry?
When you do not have food?

How do you become when you don’t get to eat on time and go hungry? Cranky! :) Let’s see what we can do to make sure you do not run out of your favorite food or even any food at all.

How will you ensure that your voice will be heard??

Wouldn’t it be great if we get our President's support? How about writing a letter to him together and ask for his support to save the soil? We can ask him to get all his friends from work to join the movement too!
