▪️How it started :
The MeToo movement was initially started by Tarana Burke, an 🇺🇸 social activist, back in 2006. Later on in 2017, the phrase was then popularised by 🇺🇸 actress, Alyssa Milano. (photo shown below)

▪️ Why it started :
This movement was created to encourage victims of sexual harassment to speak up about their cases. This allowed them to openly express their allegations on social media platforms.

▪️What are the underlying issues in this #️⃣ & how were they solved ? :
This movement allows victims of sexual harassment to voice out their problems and other web users can encourage and give them support. The sexual harassers who are mentioned in these tweets would be exposed and would be arrested for their deeds. For example, in 🇰🇷, the hashtag was used by artists to go against their superiors who sexually harassed them unwillingly. These superiors were arrested and punished deservingly. 🙄🤢👺

https://www.irishtimes.com/polopoly_fs/1.3698911.1542295669!/image/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/box_620_330/image.jpg

1) How were these hashtags inspired?
In 2013, the movement began with the use of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on social media after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin in February 2012. In July 2014, Eric Garner died in New York City, after a New York City Police Department officer put him in a chokehold while arresting him. Garner's death has been cited as one of several police killings of African Americans that sparked the Black Lives Matter movement.

2) What are the underlying social issues?
Police Brutality and Racism . One of the many reason that these could be connected is that ,, black people are tend to be seen as violent and always armed . thus,, leading this stereotype many policemen see every black people as dangerous and therefore firing at them when they had done nothing .

3) What opinions or sentiments are reflected in the hashtags about these social issues?
The image below from twitter and this link https://twitter.com/theGrio/status/1148354725974294528?s=20 are celebrities and reporters strongly disapproving the brutality that the police men and white people are treating the black lives. Shannon Martinez on twitter says that " My 16 year old daughter just told me that while shopping on 4th of July, wearing a #BlackLivesMatter t shirt, she was confronted by a uniformed cop telling her how wrong her shirt was. She said: "I'm not the one who approached a 16 yo girl to harass her about a T-shirt" & walked away. "

4)What is your personal opinion of the movement, why?
There are also other hashtags which counter #blacklivesmatter, such as #bluelivesmatter which was created by the supporters of the police to defend them for their actions. (Rebecca)
Yes, I support the movement BlackLivesMatter, however I personally feel that people on social media overuse and mistake this hashtag to be related with Black Pride which is a completely different matter. Additionally, because of this movement, INNOCENT police men are being bashed with hate for no reason. (Rozelle)
The movement should be based on everyones opinion and perspective on what has happened instead of seeing as one view . Having one of many reasons , many black lives could have done nothing wrong and has been innocent throughout their entire lives and because of a stereotype it has led policemen to take action and brutally murdering them with no explanation but as an "accident" .

1)The hashtag was made in hornour of Mohamad Mattar, a 26 year old Sudanese activist who died trying to protect two during the bloody dispersal of the protest camp outside the military camp.
It was named as BlueforSudan as blue was Matter's favourite colour and was his instagram profile picture.

2)Something particularly interesting about this issue is that the those who oppose the government would be raid by he Sudanese soldiers who are commanded to do so. More than 100 people were killed, some with sand bags tied to their leg so that they can sinker into the river faster, and the others, whose dead bodies were thrown to the river. These cruel methods sparked the attention of others causing the widespread of this hashtag.

3)The underlying issue behind this hashtag is he harsh treatment of the government towards the opposers. This hashtag is made in hope that it could help gain awaness of the issue that Sudanese people was facing.

4)It is hard to believe that the government would do such brutal things to their people .As a democratic country it people should come first, but for Sudan ,the government use violent methods to threaten them to obey them.

1)The hashtag was inspired by Halimah Yacob not wanted as Singapore's president.
2)A social issue is a problem that influences a large number of individuals within the society. There is an "unfair democracy" on electing Halimah Yacob as she did not fulfill the election guidelines. For example, the election guideline says a candidate must have a company worth $500 million but Halimah Yacob does not meet the guidelines.People did not have a chance to vote for her as there was not any other political candidates to compete with her.
3)some opinions of this issue are that people are think that the government has something to hide as they select a president and secondly, they think it is rigged as the president was selected and not elected even though the president does not meet the guidelines

Monica's opinion on the issue , this was a post on her Instagram story
https://mothership.sg/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/monica-baey-nus-kethlyn.png

How were these hashtags inspired
- The hashtag was inspired as Monica Baey was the victim of this issue and her name is commonly known among Singaporeans thus this hashtag was made to surface this issue among Singaporeans.
- The hashtag was inspired by the incident that happened during May 2019 @ NUS. Monica Baey was filmed while bathing by Nicholas Lim which started the hashtag as Monica reported to NUS and they did not do much to help her. This caused an uproar because when Monica posted on instagram about NUS 's reply which she was not satisfied with. A possible reason why NUS did not take much action as Nicholas Lim's Mother has power within the government. This caused people who sided Nicholas Lim to 'advice' Monica to stop posting or else she will take action.

Underlying social issues
- Underlying social issues : sexual harassment, voyeurism and management of the NUS disciplinary committee.
- People were upset that NUS did not treat the case seriously and let Nicholas Lim off with a small 'sentence' and Monica was left with nothing, not enough justice.

What opinions or sentiments are reflected in the hashtags about there social issue
The general public too did not like the actions taken by NUS which caused the hashtags to rise as they wanted to raise awareness for the victims and to force NUS to take proper and real action towards the perpetrator

The hashtag was inspired by this year's pink dot event. This is the 11th year the Pinkdot event has taken place.
People who attended the event posted their pictures and stories accompanied by the hashtag.
Something particularly interesting about this year's event was the attendance of Lee Hsien Yang, our prime minster's younger brother. His attendance was noted and caused quite a sensation online as no one expected a family member of a national leader to attend.
The underlying social issues behind PinkDot is the freedom for the members of the LGBTQ community to be able to be with their partner, regardless of gender.
