In Act 2, Scene 1 the characters show resentment towards each other. For example, Demetrius threatens Helena and explains to her that he wants nothing to do with her. Another example of this is how Titania is showing hatred towards Oberon because she feels that he is a jealous and evil individual. Throughout the Scene, it is revealed that Oberon is an evil individual because he is trying to cast a love potion on Titania so she can fall in love with a human. I was also able to come to the conclusion that Demtrius doesn’t seem like a good person either because he threatens to kill Helena and disappear if she keeps loving him.

A theme that I have seen in the play is hatred for one another. This is shown by the continuous arguing scenes and the things being said in these arguments. Some motifs that I have seen are the flower and love potion. These keep reoccurring because it shows that being hateful towards someone or something could cause bad things to happen. This themes and motifs connect to the theme though because without the hatred for each other then their wouldn’t be a love triangle.

The significance of the love potion in this scene is very important. Puck accidentally puts the love potion on Lysander's eyes instead of Demetrius. Lysander wakes up and the first person he sees is Helena, causing him to fall in love with her. This is really bad considering how Lysander is supposed to marry Hermia in secret that day, and Helena is not in love with Lysander. This foreshadows that problems and antics will ensue

After analyzing how Helena interacts with others, she seems like a kind person who just wants Demetrius to love her. Even though Demetrius has been relentlessly rejecting her and running away from Helena, she stays persistent. This proves how her heart might be to big for herself. After all the hate Demetrius shows to her, she stays in love with him. With this said it is easy to see that Helena's main motivation is for Demetrius to love her the way she loves him.

in Act 2 scene 1 we learn more about the characters interact with eachother a lot and most of the time it is more negative then positive. An example of this is when Helena is explaining her love for Demetrius to him and he keeps shooting her down over and over even going as far as saying “ For I am sick when I do look on thee”(215-220). This shows how Demetrius is a very selfish and mean person and how he has no concept of kindness. The other character such as Helena, Hermia and Lysander also interact with eachother and it shows how some of them are kind, arrogant and bitter.

The love potion in this scene is significant because of two reasons. The first reason is Puck puts it on Lysander eyes instead of Demetrius’s which means that Lysander is. Is in love with Helena because she is the first person he saw. The second reason is that Lysander prior to this came up with a plan to escape with Hermia and get married away from everyone where no one could stop them from loving each other. Overall the love potion being used on the wrong person will cause a big stir between the four lovers.

The love potion is important because is adds a huge new twist in the story. Puck mistakenly puts the potion in the eyes of Lysander instead of Demetrius which further mixes up the love triangle and makes Lysander fall in love with Helena. This is a problem because he is supposed to marry Hermia in secret, not Helena. Helena also does not love Lysander, setting up more problems in the next acts,

This makes the reader visualize the forest as an extremely mystical and magical place, which will add to the story later.
