- The senators are chosen by the state legislature.
- Each senator serves for 6 years. 
- Each senator has one vote.
- The Senate is divided into three classes. Each class vacates at different times in the six year cycle.
- A senator must be 30 years old, and have lived 9 years as a citizen of the United States. 
- The Vice President is the president of the Senate, but has no vote, unless votes are tied. 
- The Senate tries all impeachments.
- Two thirds of the members of the Senate must concur to convict a man or woman of impeachment. 

Violation: A man desires to be a senator but has not attained to the age of 30 years old. He is not qualified, and a state legislature's voting him in is absolutely unconstitutional. 

Example: The state legislature of Pennsylvania lies about a proposed senators's age, who in reality is under the age of thirty, in order to vote them into the Senate of the United States.
