Official Test FAQ

In-Person VS Online

• DO NOT choose to take the test online because any little issue will cause your score to be invalid and you will have to retake your test

Requirements to receive voucher from Community Action

• 12 class hours

• Receiving a score of 150 on your GED Ready Test

• GED.com account with CAI as prep center

• SSN (if they have one) and TEAMS ID in GED account

• Voucher Request Contract

Pearson Vue ID requirements

• Valid government-issued identification with photo and signature (i.e., driver's license, passport, state-issued ID, military ID, etc.) and a second valid ID with a signature may be required

Students can purchase their own test if they don’t want to wait ($36.25/Subject)

Retakes

• If you do not pass the first time, re-takes can be scheduled

• Students will pay $16.50

• You have two re-takes and if you do not pass, you have wait 6 weeks to schedule another test. The fourth attempt will go back the original price

You need a diagnosis from an accredited doctor

Cannot use IEP unless it is less than 5 years old and it has the diagnosis from an accredited doctor in it

Can get free diagnosis and services from Vocational Rehabilitation

Before test

• good night sleep

• Meditate/Breathe in car before walking in

Don't skip the allotted time for breaks!!

• breathe, meditate, get up, go to the bathroom, get a drink/snack, etc.

Regulation Techniques

• Breathing

  • breathe in for 4 counts, hold your breath for 7 counts, breathe out for 8 counts

• Put your hand on your heart to feel the beat

• Imagine that the empty seat in the room is where your favorite person (or pet) is setting and supporting you.

• Positive Subliminal Communication (mantra)

  • repeating positive phrases to yourself to put focus in something good!
