EBP provides nurses with the first stop knowledge to improve their patient care. By providing bedside care to patients, nurses are able to visualize what strategies of care works and which doesn’t. This allows nurses the opportunity to collaborate with other team members to find a solution to a clinical problem. Nurses can help obtain, guide, and implement the information found. The information found is then translated into guidelines that can be utilize into patient care. Nurses as the leader of patient care should be knowledgeable in the appraisal of guidelines before applying them into their practice.The purpose of developing and implementing guidelines is to lower healthcare cost and improve the quality of care patients are receiving.
