Homer mentions that she is the daughter of the famous titan. In another verison, she is the daughter of Tethys and Oceanus as an Oceanoid. This did not stop Odysseus from wanting to go home to Penelope. She imprisoned him for seven years before Hermes, the messenger god, was sent to tell Calypos to release Odysseus. After Calypos agreed to free Odysseus, she supplies him with food and water while even helping build him a new boat for his voyage.
