In this case, by keeping the identity of the men anonymous, allows the racism in the sport to carry on as they are not publicly known due to this and serve no real repercussions of their actions. 
Another case of media fueling racism, is when sterling bought a house for his mother and was criticized for this by having headlines such as "Obscene Raheem" - The Sun and "England flop Raheem shows off blinging house," - The Daily Mail, I highly doubt if any other footballer had done this for their mother and happened to be white, they would not receive this type of reaction from local media. By media showcasing this, this just fuels and normalizes racist tones. Sterling was yet also criticized for getting a tattoo of a weapon on his leg, firstly had any other person gotten this i doubt there would have had any backlash. This apply's for not just the media and everyone. People should not be normalising racism in any way, even if you think of it as a joke or an heat of the moment which could've applied to when sterling was at the hand of racial abuse, no matter what this should not occur to anyone in any way.
