Jenna Williams, Denis Ross, Christopher N

In the first procedure each of us got more food twice, But in the second procedure we got at least zero or more food. Each beaks dominated in one or two food types. So we could live off of those one or two things, and not fight each other for it. It was really hard to go after so many things, and easier to go after one thing at a time. I think this because when you go after many things you don't know what to choose so you may just be able to get one of each. And when you're going for one thing you can focus on that.

Part 2
In the experiment, the tweezers and the forks got the most food in both trials. In the first trial, where there was only one food type, each beak would get more of that food. In the second trial most of the birds collected lesser amounts of food than first trial. This most likely occurred as a result of more food choices in the second trial than the first.

Since all the foods are in the plate the birds now have a bigger variety of food allowing them to pick the food their better at picking at. One of the similarities from both graphs is the tweezers always collecting the most amount of food. Another similarity was the fork had the hardest time consuming/picking most of the food. A difference would be when we put all of them together in the plate the birds focused on the food their beaks were more specialized for. When we put all the food together the binder clip was not able to get a lot of food due to competition for food,as it did better with only one type of food at a time. Depending on the type of food and beak it distinguished the outcome.

They are similar because beans were the most picked up food in both graphs. The fork was also the dominating beak out of the 2 graphs. In round 2, there wasn't as much of a variety of food. Everybody favored one different type of food. The reason for the difference in the the tables is that in the second one, birds can go for food types they excelled in grabbing, but in the first graph, the birds were forced in eating only one type of food, if they are or aren't good at eating it.

In the first section of the experiment, the isolation of each food type resulted in more competition and struggle for food. The second experiment allowed each species to pick and choose what food type they wanted. This meant fewer birds were fighting over the same food type and for some animals that previously died off would now thrive and vise versa. For example, the clothespin was struggling for food in the first experiment. The only food it's beak type could easily consume would be the red and green beads so when these food types were available the clothespin thrived, but when they were absent the clothespin would not get enough to eat. Also the binder clip beak type would thrive with a specific food type due to loss of some competition and the limitations of its beak type so when the food types were mixed the binder clip got the least amount of food.

Now since all types of food are available in the tray, we go for the food that is easier for us to get. The first experiment was harder because only one food was available at a time, so the competition was more aggressive.

These beaks differ in many ways. The beak that showed the greatest chance of surviving with the most different types of food was the tweezers. The tweezers picked up the most probably because they are the easiest to hold in the hand and have easy maneuverability. The one that was the worst was the clothespin
