         <description><![CDATA[<div>I would have John start cutting back a cigarette a day until he has quit completely.&nbsp; During this time, he can make note of his triggers and have a healthy snack, go for walk for deep breathing exercises to help him through the craving.<br><br>For alcohol he can notice when he most wants to drink and call Tina instead to come over for dinner or a movie.&nbsp; They can make a nice meal together and then watch a movie.<br><br>As for Vicodin, once he has a good sleep routine, he can start weaning off the Vicodin.  I would have him consult his Dr. to help him wean off the drug slowly.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It is easy for a non-smoker to just say "stop smoking", so I don't think that is a fair thing to suggest. Perhaps John can work with his team to figure out a way to start to cut down, starting with his morning cigarette. Maybe a morning meditation or mindfulness session would be a way to substitute in a healthier ritual.          <description><![CDATA[<p>From watching my close family members suffer from cigarette addiction as well as alcohol addiction I'd highly suggest either stopping cold turkey or ease himself off of them. One suggestion could be using the nicotine patch until he feels strong enough to cut it out altogether. I would suggest that he finds some other alternative to consuming alcohol as well. Some good herbal teas that contain lavender or chamomile may be a better choice for easing his body into a peaceful, nights sleep.</p>]]></description>
