I LOVED using CODAP to explore/analyze data. I spent last night playing around with the site and am excited about working with our math/science teachers on ways this can be used in their classrooms. We are planning on providing a PD session to our science and math teams. We would like to share with them how phenomena can be used to introduce and provide an anchor throughout the lesson. We think it is important to build exploration and provide relevancy to students. Eventually, we would like this to expand to other content areas as well.

Our next steps are to gather all the information we have learned and find time to share with our teams. We also need to obtain the books about the probes so that we have resources available when planning. Another step is to explore a PD using CODAP and how it can be incorporated in to the phenomena. Lastly, we would like to introduce the AI options into lesson planning.

In the 6-8 Vertical PLC meeting 3/26 we will review Ai tools and discuss phenomena-based learning. High School will do the same in the next department meeting. We would also like to discuss vertical coordination between grade levels to identify the common topics in each grade level's standards and discuss how to build on previous knowledge.

We will share information that we have learned at this training with our admin in PLC. We will also use resoureces/ideas we have taken away in our science planning as a team.

Finding ways to implement strategies we have learned in our current content. This will also be beneficial as we continue to build our resources and lessons planning in the next school year.

To bring back what I learned at this session I'd like to make a mini-lesson that incorporates many of the strategies and resources we learned about these past two days for the other 5th grade teachers to engage with. I think many of the strategies we learned for student engagement are relevant to other subject levels. I think our 5th grade math teacher, and possibly social studies, would love a resource like CODAP. My next steps would be to meet up with the 5-8 science team at our school and go over the notes and highlights from this PD session. We meet as a science team once a month, so I would like for this to happen at our next meeting.

During our 5-8 vertical science meeting, Jenn and I will share our notes with the other 2 science teachers.

First we can discuss phenomena and how to utilize the anchor phenomena throughout the unit of study.

We would also share CODAP as a way tool to help with mathematical and computational modeling.
