"His grief only became more deep and rankling when he had leisure for for reflection and at length it took so fast hold of his mind that at the end of three months he lay on abed of sickness" (Shelley 18). This goes along with loneliness and despair because this was when Beaufort lost everything and ran off alone. He tried to find a job, but was overcome by grief and despair at the loss of his fortunes that he could not.

It consumed his entire mind so that he did not want to do anything else, and even did not go back to his family. He let his body deteriorate.

His ambition was to discover something new. He wanted his legacy to be grand, and this was his ambition to discover something new.

"My person was hideous and my stature gigantic. What did this mean? Who was I? whence did I come? What was my destination? These questions continually recurred, but I was unable to solve them" (Shelley 109). As the monster acquired knowledge, he became more self aware. After seeing and experiencing things that the cottagers did, he wanted to know more about himself. He became obsessed with why he could not talk or make connections with people.

"'For some days I haunted the spot where these scenes had taken place, sometimes wishing to see you, sometimes resolved to quit the world and its miseries forever'" (Shelley 123). After the monster killed William, he wondered through the woods. He even stated that he wanted his life to end because he was alone. His misery caused him to want someone because he was lonely.

"'My attention at this time was solely directed towards my plan of introducing myself into the cottage of my protectors'" (Shelley 112). The monster wanted to talk and get affection from the cottagers. He formed a plan on how he was able to make them trust him, because humans attacked him on sight. The creature loved the cottagers and called them his protectors so much that he did. But it did not end well.

If I have no ties and no affections, hatred and vice must be my portion; the love of another will destroy the cause of my crimes, and I shall become a thing of whose existence everyone will be ignorant" (Shelley 126). The monster wants very much to be loved, and he has asked Frankenstein to help him. Victor created him and abandoned him, and that made the creature want revenge. After he had experienced all those things he went back to victor so they could make a deal. It took a lot of ambition to make him go back to victor, ask for a mate, and tell him that they will leave mankind altogether, so he could be happy.

"I saw an insurmountable barrier placed between me and my fellow men; this barrier was sealed with the blood of William and Justine, and to reflect on the events connected with those names filled my soul with anguish" (Shelley 137). Frankenstein explained that he was separated from mankind because of the deaths of his friends. This shows the loneliness and the misery he faced.

"Every moment I feared to meet my persecutor. Sometimes I sat with my eyes fixed to the ground, fearing to raise them lest they should encounter the object which I so much dreaded to behold. I feared to wander from the sight of my fellow creatures lest when alone he should come to claim his companion" (Shelley 143). Frankenstein was so obsessed about the monster's threats that he let it get his sanity. He became paranoid and so afraid that he did not let his eyes off the ground.

"The examination, the presence of the magistrate and witness, passed like a dream from my memory when I saw the lifeless form of Henry Clerval stretched before me" (Shelley 155). This is when Frankenstein found out the monster had murdered his best friend Henry, after he had torn apart the monster's mate. The monster framed Victor like he did with Justine.

After the monster killed almost all of the people victor loved, Victor was devastated and went to sail out over the lake. Alone and unhappy he fell into despair and cried.

"My courage and perseverance were invigorated by these scoffing words; I resolved to not fail in my purpose" (Shelley 183). The monster left messages to Victor to taunt him. After Victor saw them he again hunted down the beast with ambition.

This was when victor discovered Walton's ship. He was saved and after recovery told his story to Walton like in the first part of the book. This is when it comes full circle.
