They were found by fisherman called Dictys on the island of Seriphus. Perseus grows up there. As a young boy Perseus was fascinated by the story of Medusa. Medusa was a beautiful women but she was punished by Athena because of her vanity. Medusa was turned in a Gorgon. King Polydectes wishes to marry Danae but she does not love him. Perseus grows up to be very strong. King Polydectes would not force her to marry him because he was afraid Perseus would hurt him. King Polydectes knew he had to get rid of Perseus so he sent him to defeat Medusa. Athena helps Perseus along the way. Perseus finds the Nymphs of the North who give him shoes to help him fly, a helmet to turn him invisible and bag to put Medusa's head in. Hermes gives Perseus weapons. He finds the Grey Witches who he tricks into telling him were Medusa's lair is.When he gets to the lair he is faced by Medusa's sisters who are immortal Gorgons.Perseus uses Medusa's shield to see Medusa's reflection. He swings he sword and cuts of Medusa's head.
