4. I can relate to the personal pictures and using them in class and relating them so that wasn't new to me. I know repetition is key especially at the beginning of a new school year and if you do it for two weeks, the students will have learn the rules and expectations.
5. I enjoyed the video overall, but I could only come up with three new things that were new learning moments.

I would like to use the reading strategies: making connections and thinking aloud. I would also love to teach my children about teamwork. It is important for children to know that "we" can be possible and this way, all children cooperate and help each other stay engage.

1) Using a poem as as an Entry Task . Not just any poem , a poem the class can relate.
2) TEAM! In everything , the students still did their own work and their opinions were heard. (Observation )
3) Language is not learned , slowly you acquire it . Having a lot of open language opportunity's .

1. Starting with a poem that has some of their vocab words is great but she added movement so that can help break the ice.
2. Language is acquired.
3. Teamwork activities are guided and if you do a lot of teamwork activities then you wouldn't have to struggle with disciplining.
4. By writing down all their ideas it shows that every idea, no matter if is repeated, it is valued.
5. Having different activities that covers the same content gives the child more opportunities to understand the content.
The teaching strategies that I would like to use is more visual learning. Having available all the ideas or lessons available so they can reference back to if needed. Having different activities that covers the same content available so I know if they didn't understand it at this or that activity they will have the chance to learn it at the other activities. Also having more teamwork. I feel this gives students the chance to speak up and build confidence and give the shy ones the confidence to engage in group discussions.

What teaching strategies would I like to use in the future and why?

Along with the 5 learning moments I mentioned above I would someday like to also incorporate starting class or a lesson with a poem. I believe this creates and promotes a fun learning environment not to mention promotes remorization skills.

I also would like to remind students how important respecting one another is, giving students a chance to reward others for being respectful. I beleive this helps promote active listening and lets others know they are aware of what you are saying and doing.

1. Teamwork. I believed that team work help children socialize with each other. They get to listen to each other ideas an work as a team to put those though together.

3. Exploration; allows the children explore different way and ideas to come up with a solution. The more prediction they made the better their brain can develop in multiple ways rather then just one single way. I guess find more solutions to one single problem.
4. Time; allowing the children time allows them to get comfortable around other children so that they can then start socializing and interacting at their own pace.

1. GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) is a standard-based learning method that helps to promotes ELD (English Language Development) for students of all learning levels.
2. GLAD strategies are helpful for introducing students to new content, concepts, and vocabulary in a variety of ways
3. Small-group activities can be used to promote learning, teamwork, and positive classroom behaviors
4. Poems can be useful for introducing new content or concepts, plus the use of vocabulary, written and oral language skills.
5. It is helpful to demonstrate reading strategies for students by showing them how to “think-aloud”. This might involve highlighting, thinking of questions, or noting personal connections to a reading.

One teaching strategy I would like to use with my future students is the use of poems. Poems are a great tool to help students with their reading, writing, and speaking skills. Poems also serve as helpful mnemonic devices in learning. Another teaching strategy I would use is creating “Observations Reports” by recording students’ observations, questions, and predictions down as they emerge and for everyone to see. This tool seems similar to KWL charts or creating collaborative student observation/anecdotal notes, which is a tool I have found useful in the past. Lastly, I liked the use of a “keyword” as an attention prompt. This strategy helps students to learn new and useful academic vocabulary, while also giving them the opportunity to repeat and practice using the word more often. The video offered a lot of strategies, but I believe these three would be most helpful with students in K-3rd.

I learned that you don't teach a language, language emerges though teaching and providing many opportunities for oral language.

Some of the teaching strategies, I would love to use is
having a poem and involving movement in which I believe that by singing it and
making movement helps students learn the concept being taught and the movement
will help them remember later.

I will also have more teamwork than working individually. By
observing, the video I was able to see a lot of students participating and
being involve in the learning process. The students were having a lot of
conversations. The teacher gave the time to think, reflect, share, their
learning as they put their head together to talk about the concept being teach.

1. Poems- I really liked how she incorporates poems and includes the vocabulary words.
2. Respecting the children by writing down the observations made by the students. I really liked how she said that it is okay if other students say the same thing and she will still write it.
3. Connections- She involved her grandfather and made connections to him and how he immigrated.
4. Encouraging respectful interactions- She would tell children to get close and encourage to work as a team. Also she would let the class know to be respectful to the classmates and to listen.
5. Thinking out loud- I really liked how she modeled how she would read and what annotations she would make to the reading and what parts she would need more clarification.

I would really like to incorporate the "We" and not the "I". I really liked how she reminded them that they were in a group and instead of saying I, the student said "we". This would teach children being respectful in groups and making everyone feel involved. Another thing I would incorporate is thinking out loud. I really liked how she would say what she was thinking out to the class and ask questions to the students to involve them.

I want to go this teachers class:) She seems like she keeps it fun, engaging and moving!
Here are my 5 new moments of learning:

1) Teamwork! A class must first practice and learn teamwork before you can do teamwork naturally. I love that the whole class is a team and then tables are teams.
2) Exploration before a textbook. The teacher briefly mentions that before reading a chapter she has allows the students to explore and get a grip on what they are about to read.
3) WE instead of I. I just love this. This is one for the memory bank FOR SURE!
4) Putting heads together, LITERALLY. That was just such a great idea and makes it more engaging. I sure hope we get past this pandemic so we can do this one.
5) Showing pictures to prompt questions. YES to this all day for all subjects not just social studies. Get the minds curious!

Teamwork-What does “teamwork” look like. I like the chart she put up and wrote down different ways of what teamwork looks like.

Thinking aloud Activity-Sharing thoughts and ideas. Everyone in the groups cooperates in shares their input.

Observations- Creating a visual chart to share observations, what you are wondering, and what are your predictions. Using the words “we” instead of “I” when sharing. Everyone shares something and if they need help, they can seek help from their team so they can share an observation.

Poem-Using this as another way to deliver content. Using Keywords.

She gives a lot of opportunity for oral language. She doesn’t introduce a text book immediately.

1. I really enjoyed seeing that the teacher had posters up around the classroom on the subject that they were learning.
2. I liked that the teacher had different ways to cover the subject. She used poems, pictures and mentioned using books later on. I liked that she was utilizing all the resources that were available.
3. The teacher really wanted the students to learn from each other so she made sure to do something that will require participation from all the team members. Like "put your heads together" I really liked that she put emphasis on that so the children knew that they were doing this to help themselves and their teammates.
4. I liked that the teacher mentioned using repetition. My teaching coach really enforces that in our classroom and it's really good to remember that when teaching children. Repetition is key.
5. The last thing that I really loved is that she gave the children a safe place to really express themselves. She made sure that everyone was respected and showed respect. That's really important for all children. Knowing that they have a place where they can feel comfortable in asking questions and voicing their opinions.

Some teaching strategies that I want to have in my classroom would be to have more of the children's thoughts and questions around the room and have them work together. I want them to be able to see that they are a part of the classroom, the lesson and that they matter. I want them to be able to see their thoughts on paper.

The first thing that stuck out was her saying " you acquire language through teaching and language opportunities."
Teamwork- I like the web chart she had created on the wall, " there is no I in team" is one I remember as a kid and "teamwork makes the dream work" is another. I would have used black marker in the middle and for the lines but every quote or saying would have been a different color. I like how she got them all up and together but I didn't really like the head position, personal space and hygiene reasons.
Poems- They are fun with simple and basic information that helps to remember key points on a topic. Poems have different structures and that could be another lesson all together. Giving a topic and having kids create what they think out the topic is nice to see all the difference they come up with. Not to mention it helps with vocabulary so the same words aren't used.
Asking questions about the picture- Lets them think about what their seeing and drawing ideas for themselves.
I like the Team Point chart she has on the wall and she gives points when the students are ready to go on time with the learning.
Having the visual aids of the students writing/ ideas in whatever language to show that they are participating and accomplishing things. Making progress over time too.

Vocabulary/Key word: it helps the children understand and gain knowledge of the wording we are using.
Exploration report: I love the idea of giving them a picture or item and like them to be able to observe and production.
Poem: I want to introduce the class in the morning with a poem and maybe one at the end of class. I feel like the kids would be more engaged when you make it fun.
Team Work: team work is a great way to have them work together and help bring out eachother's ideas.
Thinking outloud: letting the children say they're ideas out loud nothing is wrong.

1. When the teacher printed the article and practiced the thinking out loud. I liked how she encouraged her students to write down questions and connections.
2. Having the students "put the heads together". This was a great example of practicing what you say. It also made the whole group work together.
3. Using the word they were practicing "anti-Semitism" as the word to start different activities. Even when the class was supposed to just go to the rug she had the class say the word to remember it.
4. Having the groups work together. When reporting what they came up with they were told to use "we" rather than "I".
5. Using physical movement when reciting the poem.

What I would like to use as an educator would be the movement while reciting the poem. I think this would be a fun way for young children to learn new vocabulary and give them a chance to use their body.

Creating connections with students.
Using poems and or chants that children can remember easily to understand certain topics.
Encouraging teamwork amongst the students.
Modeling thinking out loud through highlighting, circling, underlining, etc.

I would like to use all of these strategies at some point in my teaching because they would all be very helpful. I think that elaborating on these even more by using movement or music throughout the day would make it fun and inviting for children too.

I learned that language is acquired through rich learning experiences and not just through instruction.
There are many ways to cover the same information which gives students more opportunities to learn the concept.
Oral language and repetition is essential
It is okay to introduce/teach concepts with background with GLAD, instead of immediately giving the students a textbook.
As an educator I can encourage collaboration and respect by acknowledging and rewarding students. It was amazing to see how the students in the video respected one another and encouraged each other.
Thinking aloud modeling allows for clear demonstrations and learning to communicate with the text. I would truly love to incorporate strategies from the video with my future students like making connections because it is important that students can think and find relations to the topics being discussed. I want them to truly connect with what is being taught. Stop and think is another strategy that stood out to me because it gives the students time to process their ideas and thinking. Most importantly I want to allow for as much producing language as possible, it was amazing seeing the students collaborating and being inclusive of everyone.

1. One of the most crucial things to have in your classroom is the ability to teach teamwork so that students can learn from one another. I hope to teach this concept in my classes one day. When there is collaboration, it is not "I" but rather "WE" because everyone works together.
2. One of the things I'll be teaching my students one day is how to make connections.
3. Exploration is an excellent thing to undertake before a textbook so that the students can have a sense of what will be covered in the textbook and they can grasp it better.
4. Think aloud is an excellent way for students to discuss issues related to the material being taught by putting their minds together and debating them.
5. Although I was aware of its importance, it is crucial to teach students to respect not only their professors but also their classmates in general. Should wait for their chance to speak and not interrupt your peers or professors.

These are the top five strategies I'll use with my students moving forward.

I really enjoyed the different ways the students are learning. The poem she has the students say helps them learn the topics and content by using key terms. Doing teamwork activities as much as possible. Use a lot of oral language helps students with the english vocabulary and language. Reminding students of the class agreement is a great way to show respect and learn what others have to say. I really liked all the posters the teacher has created with all the students. She writes all the ideas and answers the students have and display them in the classroom. I think these are all great ways to teach.

A teaching strategy that I learned and would like to use in the future. The poem strategy, I think poem/singing strategies will be helpful and meaningful for the smaller kids. Also the thinking out loud strategy. Being a para working outside the classrooms in the hall is hard to do out loud activities. Volume level has to be kept at a minimum. In my future classroom it'll be a good activity for students to work together.

I noticed that the teacher used multiple different forms of learning for her students so that if they didn’t learn the content one way, they had more opportunities to understand throughout the lesson. I appreciated seeing that because every student learns in a unique way, and teachers should cater their teaching towards that uniqueness.
2. I also noticed how she wrote down all students ideas, and let them speak even if the idea had already been said. I love that because it makes the students feel important and heard.
3. The teacher kept all relevant charts on the walls for future reference. That way the kids can look back at the things they learned on a previous day to help them with their current learning.
4. I loved the idea of having both individual work as well as group work. Students won’t get as overwhelmed vs. if they had to immediately do the work in their own. Plus they are encouraged to ask others for help, which is a great way to practice “using your resources.”
5. I noticed that she used a lot of “modeling.” She would show the students how to complete an assignment (either herself or asking for volunteers) so that they had an idea of what to do next. It also helps with sentence framing/structuring, which is helpful to English learners.

I really enjoyed this video, so many different key points that I was able to analyze. I was able to put myself in her position and think about how well these learning strategies are and can be used in the classroom.
1. Thinking out loud this allows for students to learn the value of respecting others and treating them how they would want to be treated. I also like this idea for collaborating ideas and shared thoughts.
2. Key words and finding what works best for students to remember and understand new content. This helps allow students to reflect on what they have learned and already know.
3. Asking questions is one that I have started using more in my reading and story times. I am able to ask students about the context, the order, and personal thoughts. This also allows for students to come up with their questions.
4. Participation is important and can be difficult for some students. A great way to encourage students is playing games and fun circle activities that get everyone involved. This helps break the ice for most students considering everyone is sharing ideas.
5. I do find myself using we instead of I many times in the classroom. When discussing with the children, I like to point out that we're a team and we do things together in the class.

One strategy that I would use in my future classroom is making connections and asking open-ended questions. Engaging with students is very important in their learning development. Using prior and new knowledge would definitely help them.

1. The teacher was very interactive with the students and really borught student intercation so they were involved and just not sitting and having a "lecture."
2. The teacher explains every thing she does and explains the why to the children. She is taking notes while they are going through. She is working with the up down approach.
3. I loved how she modled dialouge and making connections to what you are reading and learning. Showing and teaching children to use that inner dialogue.

1. MOVEMENT! Creating a poem and movements for the vocabulary that go along with it the poem.
2. I like how she mentioned that children do not learn a new language they acquire a new language with meaningful opportunities. Meaning full opportunities to ACQUARIRE a language.
3. Children need to be guided to understand how to cooperate in team work. At the beginning there is a lot of modeling and guidance but then children start to catch on repeated behavior and start working together automatically.
4. I really like the "WE" statements when answering questions as a group because they all contribute to the conversation, information and is only fair for all to feel value and respected.
5. "Making connections" while reading. I really like her saying of "reading is thinking" I like this strategy because children are encourage to stop, think, and make connections to analyze the text and understand and enjoy it.

The 5 things I like the most about.
1. Poem- I like how kids are engaged.
2. Aloud Activity- I like this because can practice the language if this is their second language.
3. Teamwork- It is a good idea for kids to work in a group, they can learn how to work together as a team. Also, they can become more confident when they talk with each other.
4. Head Together- I love this idea because classes are always quiet and with this idea, kids feel more comfortable in the classroom.
5. Asking Questions- It is a good idea to for kids ask questions they may have, Things they don't understand.
One teaching I would like to use is teamwork in the group, I really like this idea because kids are really engaged in the activity.

1. The teacher had the class read the poem together. I liked this because it was interactive and engaging for the students. They were also able to see the poem and see the vocabulary words that were highlighted and circled.

Somethings I have learned from the video...
1. I really like that the teacher introduced the students to poems, I think this is a great way for students to remember things. It is also a great way for students to get out of their comfort zone.
2. The exploration report was very helpful. It was a great way for students to infer knowledge before actually learning about it. They were able to make an observation, wonder things, and make predictions. This is a great way to get students thinking.
3. You acquire a language not learn it. It develops over time, with the help of a lot of oral learning.
4. The thinking-out-loud activity includes "putting your heads together", where they actually put their heads together to help with teamwork.
5. Team points help students want to do what was asked of them. The teacher rewarded the two teams for turning around when she called their attention.
I really like all of these teaching strategies that I listed in my 5 learning moments. They are all things that stood out to me, that make me want to teach more.

1. The strategy I really liked was introducing the poem. The educator not only introduced the poem, they had it on the wall and also had movement to connect and understand the words and meaning when it is together.
2. I also liked the chart concept chart to be able to understand words. It showed what teamwork looks like.
3. The educator modeled the expectations for the class and promoted participation amongst one another during the think-aloud activity.
4. I also learned that repetition does not always mean in words or work, but in activities and modeling. The educator modeled how they wanted the students to interact, and shared how it took repetition to get to the point where students do it on their own.
5. Observation not only on the students but also teaching them how to observe and what they notice. Learning how to ask questions, and how to be historians.

I love how the teacher integrated poems into teaching. I think that finding ways to learn that hold attention helps students retain learning.
I love the use of teamwork in the classroom, and that she left the word map up in the classroom for students to reflect on.
Using the heads-together technique is a great idea. I think it works well to get the kids all involved.
She stressed the importance of repetition for retention, she mentioned that promoting working together from the start has made it almost second nature to students.
The use of innner dialogue was also great, I think that is such an important skill for kids to learn to be successful learners.

I really want to use the "Think aloud" activity in my future classroom, I think that it really helps students get involved in the learning.
