This allows there to be a balance in the environment. It would be bad for each specie to be exactly alike because the environment would not be balanced. Also there will would not be any differences. For example if one lady bug was all black then they wold be able to hide better than ladybugs will a giant red spot. A real life example are dalmatians. They all have different spots. They all have different spots and are not all alike. This allows a difference in animals that are the same species. This allows for a difference in genetics.

It would be bad for the species to have the same characteristics because they would be more noticeable in certain terrains which would cause the species to become endangered or extinct.
A real life example are chinchillas not all chinchillas look alike because of adaptions and genetics. Without the variation of chinchillas many would probably go extinct because they would not be bale to camouflage in their surroundings so that they can live and breed.
