excessive richness of nutrients in a lake or other body of water, frequently due to run-off from the land, which causes a dense growth of plant life.
💎Effects
Eutrophication can have serious effects, like algal blooms that block light from getting into the water and harm the plants and animals that need it. They are neither totally dry land nor totally underwater; they have characteristics of both. The saturation of wetland soil determines the vegetation that surrounds it. Plants that live in wetlands are uniquely adapted to their watery (hydric) soil. Wetland plants are called hydrophytes. Seasonally dry wetlands or wetlands with slow-moving water can often support trees and other sturdy vegetation.
