More species are getting extinct and remaining species are not getting all the resources that they need from the animals that are extinct. These animals need help and fisherman are not helping. The ecosystem of the ocean is getting worse. We are not doing anything about it. About seventeen billion fish are getting captured per year. Picture all of those fish not able to help the ecosystem. About 31% of fisherman have captured fish and no one knows; That means more than seventeen billion fish are getting captured which is taking more fish which they are losing life, and not seeing their family again. There should be a law where you can only fish species that are overpopulated. The boats that fisherman ride in also kill fish. More than 14 billion pounds of fish are killed by pollution which come from boats. Fish can also die when they pull out their anchor and the anchor hits the fish. Pus the boats are running over the habitats of fish. Sometimes when people are putting out bait to see sharks, they lure them in where fish can be so then then they can also eat the fish. The biggest problem that is destroying the ocean’s ecosystem is extinction of species. The species in that food web need all of the resources that they need to survive. If one specie dies, the whole all of the food webs that are connected with it dies. For example let’s take a cod, it is the most connected fish in the food web; that means that its prey or its predators will die out and then all of the things that depend on those fish die out and it keeps on going until the last food web that depends on all of those food webs die. It is the circle of life and fisherman and people that are not part of this are not helping which is killing the ocean’s ecosystem. Fisherman don’t care about the fish, they just want to get paid by overfishing. A passage made by Bill Fox from WWF says that more than 85 percent of the world's fisheries have been pushed to or beyond their biological limits and are in need of strict management plans to restore them. Illegal fishing accounts for an estimated 20% of the world’s catch and as much as 50% in some fisheries. The costs of illegal fishing are a huge amount with the cost of fish products estimated at between $10 to 23.5 billion per year. Illegal fishing is not a smart thing to do and you can get in trouble. You can be fined in Texas about $200 to $2,000 or 180 days in jail. That’s something I would not plan want to do. What we can do to help is eating less fish. We can start a foundation to find jobs for fisherman so they can still have money to help their families and we are saving fishes families. Soon there won’t be any life in the ocean which is a really big problem. Many fish are in danger and are losing all of their homes.
