Students simply follow by example and once they see that not only their teacher, but their parents as well are equally concerned with their academic performance and progress they will gain interest as well.   •  Continuously improve communication (Start as early as possible).
  • Provide workshops and school-based programs to educate parents on what goes on in the classroom.
  • Accommodation such as meetings after work hours and multilingual invitations, and translators at meeting.
  • Home visits (if permitted).
  • Build relationships with students and their families.
  • Create activities for parents to observe students such as plays and talent shows.
  • Encourage parents to volunteer (i.e. field trips, helping with plays, etc., sports, tutoring)
  •  Encourage parents to be a deciding factor in school policies, rules, etc.
  • Promote carpooling for those who do not have transportation.
  • Get communities involved. (Example holding a PTA meeting at a local recreation center that is closer to the neighborhoods.)
