1)In chapter 13 Sunny is introduced into the novel as a prostitute and when Holden and her are together he explains, " I was only too glad to get up and do something. I took her dress over to the closet and hung it up for her. It was funny. It made me feel sort of sad when I hung it up. I thought of her going into a store and buying it, and nobody in the store knowing she was a prostitute and all".

2)This quote reveals that Sunny appears to be an average teenage girl and this is seen when Holden explains, “ thought of her going into a store and buying it, and nobody in the store knowing she was a prostitute and all ''. Sunny does not appear to be a prostitute because of the way she dresses and her age and he even compares her to other prostitutes that he invisoned that wear makeup and are old.

3)This character reveals that Holden still has morals and cares for others. This can be seen when Holden explains, “I took her dress over to the cloet and hung it up for her. It was funny. It made me feel sort of sad when I hung it up”. Although he explains that hanging the dress was “funny” morally Holden felt wrong which is highlighted when he explains “it made me feel sort of sad when I hung it up”. Even though Sunny is a random girl Holden shows his kinder side because he feels bad for her because he is having to hang her dress that she most likely went out of her way to buy.

1)Holden illustrates Stradlater , “Stradlater was more of a secret slob. He always looked all right, Stadlater, but for instance, you shoulve seen the razir he shaved himself with. It was always risty as hell and full of lather and hairs and crap. He never ccleaned it or anything. He always looked good when he finsihed ficing himseld up, but he was a secret slob”(31).

2)This reveals that Stradlater is not the person he seem to be. This exterior shield makes Sradlater appear to have his life together although he is truly a mess. This is seen when Holden explains how his razor looked like, “he never cleaned it or anything”. Stradlater's hygiene reveals her character on a deeper level because it illustrates how he is not what he looks like, connecting to the belief you can't judge a book by its cover. His hygiene also demonstrates how he only cares about his appearance rather than true character.

3) This reveals that Holden does not like Stradlater and is not amused by this “mask” he has created. This is seen when he emphasizes how he was madly in love with himself although he was “secret slob”.

1)In the beginning of the novel Holden reveals to Mr. Spencer that he got kicked out of school, “Well, you could see he really felt pretty lousy about flunking me. So I shot the bull for a while. I told him I was a real moron, and all that stuff”(15).

2)This reveals that Mr.Spencer is caring and understands the impact he has on his students. This is highlighted when he explains “Well, you could see he really felt pretty lousy about flunking me” this attitude that Mr.Spencer has demonstrates how he cares and feels bad about failing Holden, although he had no control in Holden's performance.

3)Mr.Spencer reveals that Holden can be sympathetic towards others. This is seen when he explains, “So I shot the bull for a while. I told him I was a real moron, and all that stuff”. Holden is seen to be self deprecating when he says he is “a real moron”, but he is portrayed to be doing this for the purpose of making Mr.spencer feel better about himself. This belief of bringing himself down to make others feel better shows he is sympathetic because he is putting himself in Mr.Spencer's position of guilt and is doing whatever he can to make him feel better.

1)Holden explains how his brother was before he died, “But it wasn't just that he was the most intelligent member in the family. He was also the nicest, in lots of ways. He never got mad at anybody. People with red hair are supposed to get made very easily, but Allie never did, and he had red hair”(43).

2) This reveals that Allie was a special person and was important in their family. This is seen when Holden explains “He was also the nicest, in lots of ways. He never got mad at anybody” demonstrating how Holden was kind to those around him making him admirable. In addition, it reveals that Allie was smart, “he was the most intelligent member in the family”.

3)This reveals that Holden loves his brother and admired him in many ways. This can be seen when he first begins by saying “But it wasn't just that he was the most intelligent member in the family”, this demonstrates that he believes that Allie is more than just someone who is smart. Holden is revealed to admire his brother because he continues explaining the characteristics that he had that made him the good person he was. This is seen again when he explains “People with red hair are supposed to get made very easily, but Allie never did, and he had red hair”. In addition, Holden emphasizes his kindness by contrasting him to the redhead stereotype.

1)Holden introduces Robert Ackley into the novel and explains, “He was probably the only gy in the whole dorm, bedies me, that wasn't down at the game. He hardly ever went anywhere. He was a very pelicula guy.

2)This reveals that Robert Ackaley is not social and doesn't seem like the type to have many friends. This is seen when Holden explains he wasn't at the game and that he “ hardly ever went anywhere” making him lonely.

3)Robert Ackley reveals that Holden is similar to him in some ways. This can be seen when Holden explains, “He was probably the only gy in the whole dorm, bedies me, that wasn't down at the game”. This demonstrates how Holden is also not very social and doesnt enjoy doing things that are connected to school spirit. This similarity between the both boys portray them to be lonely and not have connection with those around them.

1)Holden explains, “She was pretty young, but she had a terrific figure, and I wouldn't put it past that Cudahy bastard. She said no, though. I never did find out what the hell was the matter. Some girls you practically never find out what's the matter”(88).

2)This reveals that Jane in ways was secretive and did not allow Holden to know everything about her. This is seen when he explains, “I never did find out what the hell was the matter. Some girls you practically never find out what's the matter”. It also goes on to portray Jane and Holden to not have a close connection because if they were truly very close there would be no feelings of secrecy.

3) This reveals that Holden is very observant. This is seen because he points out what he feels is wrong with jane. He even notices the small things as seen when he decembre, “She was pretty young, but she had a terrific figure”.
