One of many important faces in Puritanism include: Robert Abbot, John Ball, and Robert Bolton. Robert Abbot was born in 1560 and was an Anglican clergyman and academic, also known for being a polemical writer. John Ball was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford and received his B.A. and M.A. at St Mary's Hall. After completing his academic course, he entered the Lady of Cholmondeley as a tutor. There, it came to think of spiritual things and converted. He was later ordained in 1610 without a subscription. Ball was a dissenter whenever popery relics were left in the national church and touched his conscience. He was also an eminent scholar. After his death, it was said that he lived and died nonconformist. Lastly, Robert Bolton. It was said that he would pile his books and became a scholar within a short time. In 1592, he entered Lincoln College under the tuition of Mr. Randall.

One of the many important events include the Salem Witch Trials. The purpose behind this was that their belief was that the Devil could give witches the power to harm others. Many witches, particularly women were executed. This all began when Reverend Parris' daughter Elizabeth and his niece, Abigail Williams started throwing "fits." Their fits were blamed on the supernatural.
A Puritan's Mind, www.apuritansmind.com/.
