My name is Kayla Halfacre and I am the paraprofessional in your child's classroom. This is my second year teaching but prior to this, I have four years in education. I am on my way to getting my Bachelor's in Science for Early Childhood & Early Childhood Special Education. I am so excited for this year!

Classroom Expectations

In this class we have a few expectation for students and families. We encourage children to treat their peers and teachers with kindness. We use polite words, sharing, and taking turns in class. We also encourage participation in class by having daily routines of free play, structured activites, and with transitions.

Communication

When it comes to communicating with families, we will use the district provided app, notes sent home, and phone if need be. Parents can use any of these options as well when wanting to communicate with teachers.

Class & Family Events

In this classroom, we will occasionally have events that involve the families as well. These will be hosted at the school. Events will showcase how your student is doing while also helping us build a stronger relationship with you and your child. When we build positive relationships with students and families with these events, it can help students by showing them that it is fun to come to school and learn and them knowing that their families enjoy it as well reassures them.

Ways to Help

When it comes to helping your child succeed in school, we have some volunteer opportunities. 1. You can come to school and help with activities. 2. Come to the class and read a story. 3. Help come up with an arts and crafts project for us to do. This would be good for holidays. 4. Help come up with a family workshop. This could be a science experiment to do together or learn how to make a certain snack. Some of these opportunities you can even do with your own child at home to help them learn outside of the classroom.

Family Involvement

For preschool education, family involvement is vital for enhancing student learning. Not only does it promote academic achievement but it also supports social and emotional development for young children. We always encourage family involvement in our classroom because it helps our students so much.
