This photo is from 1935, it's my maternal grandfather Takashi Kataoka as a baby in Los Angeles. He is pictured with his grandmother, who raised him while his mother worked as a seamstress, where she sewed garments for movie stars in LA! 

2. Endo's Grandfather: Takashi Kataoka, Great Great Grandmother Karu Kita. Endo's great great grandparents moved to northern California, and then moved to LA.

6. Ecologies: looks like they are outside of a house, located in Central/East LA. The ecology of LA has changed a lot since then, but we assume that it was sill very dry. Close to the LA river, and maybe the river had more water then than it does now? 

7. The Dust Bowl, right before WWII (where they were interned in Arkansas). Amelia Earhart flew solo, ties into the great depression
