         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Plague was a deadly disease and is still around today but not as much, it also infected over millions of people, but scientists were able to find a cure to help lower the death rate.<br><br>Supporting Details<br><br>First of all,Yersinia Pestis, the Plague Bacteria shuts down your immune system when it puts toxins into your defense cells to shut your immune system down, after this occurs the virus is able to multiply at a rapid pace. However, even today random cases of the Plague pop up all over the world. Infected Fleas and Rodents have been known to cause human Plague. Fleas can jump to rodents and infect them with the virus, then the rodents can bite you and give you the virus. On that note, when these rodents die the fleas jump to new animals infecting them. Another fact about the Plague is the Mortality Rate (the rate of deaths) was around 66-93% before the cure, but with the cure’s discovery scientists cut the Mortality Rate down to only 16%.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Spanish Flu pandemic affected the world for over a year, a disease that could vary in how severe with every case.<br><br>Supporting Details<br><br>First off, the pandemic started in 1918 and eventually ended in 1919 summer. However, this virus came in waves and strains over the course of this time there were multiple strains and different waves of the virus. To add to this, Spanish Flu was made off of the H1N1 Influenza A, at this point in 1918 it was beginning to become more deadly. But a discovery was made, scientists figured out what made the virus so much more deadly than H1N1. It turns out that the virus had the two proteins H1N1 has, the H and N, neuraminidase and hemagglutinin plus a so-called killer protein PB1-F2 that makes the virus so much more deadly. Other deadly and vicious flus also contain PB1-F2, like the 1957 and 1968 flu viruses. But still, 2009 H1N1 does not contain PB1-F2. Expert Peter Palese, Virologist says, “It's telling us that this virus is not as virulent as other pandemic influenza viruses.”</strong></div><div>&nbsp;<br><strong>This image shows people infected with The Spanish Flu being treated.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Ebola was a very serious virus that could make your insides bleed, but eventually scientists found a cure to the virus.</strong><br><br><strong>Supporting Details</strong><br><br><strong>First of all, most deaths in Liberia were health and frontline workers. Liberia had a huge outbreak making WHO, World Health Organization concerned that even after the virus outbreak supposedly was over, that neighboring countries were able to bring the virus back over the border. The Ebola virus existed long before the outbreak of 2013, it even existed back in 1976. A discovery found that with the newer Ebola strain it was able to seep into good cells quicker and multiply quicker. The newer mutation of the virus had many more deaths than the previous mutation. Scientists found that the virus was transmitted to humans through fruit bats. Recently, in 2019 in fact, there was a vaccine released for a strain of the virus, WHO is now using an experimental vaccine. Another fact is, most people who survive Ebola typically develop immunity to Ebola. The symptoms of Ebola can start to show up within 2-21 days of being infected. These can include fever,headache,vomiting,diarrhea, and internal bleeding.</strong></div><div><br><strong>This is what the Ebola Virus looks like.</strong></div>]]></description>
