I say this because the Mona Lisa is basically the most important painting ever and they are posed infront with it. My explanation is important because both jay z and Beyoncé are infront of the Mona Lisa showing that they are powerful and important just like the Mona Lisa.

This painting/photo depicts the history of slavery and the sorrows endured from being a slave. The bound hands in the painting ‘The Raft of the Medusa’ represent enslavement and the ordeal that the Africans endured. This is important in that Beyonce and Jay-Z are putting a limelight to it in their video within one of the most well-known museums in the world; Louvre Museum in Paris.

This screenshot from the music video shows how black people are treated unfairly. The people lying on the stairs look trapped which shows our society treats black people as less important, like in slavery and racism that is still happening today. This matters because it helps people understand the trapped feeling black people feel with the racism they receive today and why we need to make things more fair for not only black people but everyone of every race.

This image and the video in general, shows us that as African Americans they are above/ have more influence than they did before. As rather than focusing on the paintings in the building that were mainly painted by whites it focuses on Jay-Z in this shot, the clip is also rather quick which also helps focus on Jay-Z rather than the art. This is important because African Americans have helped shaped the world, and just like how some whites undermine their accomplishments they're also ignoring their art and victories despite spending so much money to film there.

This scene stands out to me because it reflects how white people tend to view black people. It is a historical fact that black people were considered nothing more than property by many. In this scene specifically, the black women were imitating the painting where there is white woman sitting on a brown sofa. The black women are setting themselves to be seen as objects as that is how they used to be treated as and sometimes still are.

This image of Jay-Z walking through the gallery of paintings mainly created by white people is focused mainly on him rather than the latter, and the scene itself is rather short despite paying so much to film in this location. This is important because many people like to undermine the accomplishments of African Americans and this scene is their way of getting back at them by paying little to no attention to the art on display here but rather on Jay-Z.

(I accidentally uploaded mine twice, ignore that)

I believe The Carters are making a statement about the lack of representation and popularity of African works in the Louvre Museum and or European art history spaces in their music video "APESHIT". Examples of this being the lack of paintings with Africans shown in the video with paintings like the Medusa, Mona Lisa, and the coronation of Napoleon which are highlighting the popular pieces which only consists of white figures , whilst my screenshot is the one of if not the only time I see an art work of a black character in the video even then I don't recognize the piece. "APESHIT" by The Carters I've found showcases an underlying idea that there is definitely an under-representation of Black/African artwork that goes unnoticed compared to famous works which highlight white people.

Looking closer at the image, you can see starting from the bottom of the image it’s darker and gets lighter the higher up the stairwell, the same goes for the people lying down, this displays the fact that whites were on top and blacks were on the bottom of this hierarchy. This is significant because it accurately demonstrates the power dynamic between whites and blacks in a time when many white people viewed themselves superior.

I chose this part of the video because it represents the level of power the colored people had back then.

it shows the level the colored people had back then when white people had the power to do anything to over other minorities.

my backup from my answer is because the colored people had no right to themselves particularly their income and living lifestyle, this represents the level of superiority the white people had over the colored people that they decided the life the colored people lived throughout their lifetime.

I chose this because I believe it represents a sculpture. It’s saying that people of color also look good being a sculpture. Why because it’s saying that not just one color looks good being a sculpture and it’s also telling us that people of color could be a sculpture.

I think that through this scene of the music video, The Carters are trying to depict the way that society has often put people of color at the bottom and White people at the top of a sort of hierarchy throughout history such as the one perpetuated by Johann Winckelmann, who considered whiter statues more beautiful than darker colored statues. This is shown by having the people with darker skin tones and clothes at the bottom (or to the side in this shot) while the people wearing lighter colors are at the top or right side. The rotated camera angle might serve as commentary on how people of color have flipped this belief on its head in a way, which fits the overall theme of the music video. This answer and its explanation are important because they add a deeper meaning to the video and my answer is provable when you consider how POC had to fight to slowly gain equal rights, starting from the bottom and eventually making it so that laws and human rights applied to everyone and not just those at the top.

I think that the statement that The Carters are trying to make in this video is to highlight the way that Black people have been viewed over the course of history and how they overcame that. This scene from the music video shows that because it serves as commentary on the belief of a social hierarchy and how people with darker skin tones were put at the bottom of it while people with lighter skin tones were considered to be the top of the hierarchy; the rotated camera angle might show how over the years this belief has been flipped on its head, meaning that people don’t believe this anymore and that the accomplishments of POC show that they have the same capabilities as White people. My answer and its explanation are important because they add a deeper meaning to the video and they are provable when you consider how POC had to fight for equal rights and to make laws apply to everyone rather than having them benefit or disadvantage certain groups.

This piece of art work stood out to me the most. This piece of art work shows the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. The art is called “Pieta” which it self means compassion. In the art work you can see Mary suffering and showing her compassion for Jesus Christ as her role of being the mother of Jesus. It is important for the people to see the compassion of Mary on how she felt after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ

I choose this picture because it shows the status of each of the skin colors and how they are ranked by.I say this because as you can tell the more top you go it has white people while the lower are people of color which can show the status of each of them. This is important because it shows how people of color are viewed less than white people and how they are seen by other and how they are seen as less important and lower than others.

I choose this picture because I think the charters are trying to show off their wealth and they are doing that because the room they are in is so big and all the paintings around them are big and worth a lot of money. I think another way they are showing this is because they stand out they are the only ones in there and they have bright color suits on and they are also next to the Mona Lisa.

The gesture means they are looking toward hope, change, or something bigger than themselves. It represents unity and awareness, encouraging people to focus on important issues like justice and a better future.
