I am taking Korean class because half Korean and half Chinese. I am already learning Chinese outside of school and I don't know much Korean which is why I am taking this class.
Things I like about Korean culture is food. I like that Korean food is really healthy, and an important thing I have experienced is that Korean people don't make food or do things to make a quick buck, like people in America- they actually do things with quality. I have noticed that food in Korea is a lot higher quality than food in America. Another thing that I like about Korean culture is that reading Korean is super easy to learn, and since there are words taken from English, there are a lot of words you can figure out if you can read Korean.
My dad is Korean and my mom is Chinese. I wasn't born in Korea nor and I fluent in it. I was born in California and I moved to Washington at the beginning of 6th grade (I think that's in 2024). Apparently I'm related to the founder of Hyundai, according to my grandparents (they found some documents).

I'm taking Korean class because of all of the languages I can learn (or relearn), I have the largest connection to Korean.

I like many things about Korean culture including food, games, and holidays. I especially like the food as Korean food tastes really good and is unique compared with food from other places.

I am half Korean: White dad, Korean mom. I was born in Oregon but lived in Korea for a portion of my early years (~3-4). I first learned a large amount of Korean (enough to speak it) before moving to Washington and went to school there. I had to adapt to the language change, and while I learned English, and over time, I slowly lost my Korean. By the time I realized what was going on, I couldn't remember enough to speak or read it very much, and instead of trying to regain that knowledge, I let myself lose more.

I'm taking Korean class to learn more about Korean culture and be able to connect with my family more. It's important for me to understand my culture deeper and also my family. Also, I want to travel to Korea.
Some things that I like about Korean culture is how unique it is and how many different perspectives there are in it. It is multi-faceted and has some many different aspects that are so influential and important that shape the amazing culture.
I'm half-Korean half-Filipino and was born in the US. I was born in New Jersey and moved to Washington when I was 8. My Dad immigrated when he was 2 to America and my mom immigrated when she was 4.

I'm taking Korean class to be able to communicate more efficiently with my friends and family. Since I do taekwondo, being able to speak Korean positively benefits my communication and learning.
I like Korean culture because of its unique and interesting characteristics. I also like Korean food, as it tastes good is overall decently healthy (depends..).
I'm full Korean but was born Hawaii and raised in Washington. My dad was born in the US but knew Korean and spoke it decently well. On the other hand, my mother was born in the US, but didn't speak Korean. As a result, my parents never taught me how to fully read and understand Korean.

I'm taking Korean class to learn how to speak, write, and read Korean better. I want to do this so I can speak with my relatives that can't speak English, and to carry on my language to further generations. I want to be able to study abroad in Korea one day.
Some things I really like about Korean culture are food, language, and pop culture. The food is always going to be my comfort food, and the language is really beautiful. Pop culture such as K-dramas, K-pop, and K-beauty are all things I appreciate.
I'm fully Korean and I was born in Atlanta, Georgia with my two older siblings. My parents were both born and raised near Seoul, and went to college there. My dad went to Seoul college, and my mom went to Ewha Womans University. After my dad went to the military, they immigrated to Georgia to start a family. They both went to Georgia Tech, and my mom also went to Georgia Gwinnett College.

I am taking Korean class so that I can learn the language better and get more knowledge about the culture. I want to discover a lot about Korea because I a half Korean and I want to be able to speak fluently with friends and family and know how to understand everything. I also want to understand more when I go to Korea again.
The things that I like about the culture is food because the food is so good and at home, I eat lots of yummy foods like 갈비, 삼겹살, 김밥 and a lot more. I also like that the culture is very influential since it is spreading around the world with their products and movies.

I am half Korean half white and was born in Washington. I lived in Korea for 1-2 years and went to preschool there. I was more fluent back then when i lived in Korea then I am now so now I have to learn it back.

im taking korean to connect with family because my grandmother and dad speak korean. my grandmother lives across the world and doesnt speak english so its hard to talk to her. :(

i love the clothing and history of korea, its so beautiful and has so much to learn about.

im mongolian and russian, i was born in seattle and moved to lynnwood at around age 9. my father was born in russia and moved to korea. he learned the language then moved to mongolia with his mom. my mom was born in mongolia with many brothers.

I am taking korean class to learn more about my own culture, and being able to understand and talk to my korean family. I have done korean school in the past but stopped when covid hit. I lost a lot of my fluency and understanding, so this class is a oppotunity to learn more, and be able to talk to more relatives in korean that can't speak english. Breaking down the language barrier in my family is something that matters to me a lot.
I like korean culture because of all the unique parts of it and the design in clothes, dishes, and folktales, the food is also another deep part of korean culture that I love a lot. Korean culture is a lot different to other cultures and has it's own "flair" The culture is truely more than just dances and food. Everything has a deep meaning and that means a lot to me

I am taking this class because my mother is korean, and my grandparents speak korean. If I learn korean, it will be easier for me to communicate with them, especially my grandfather. A thing I like about korean culture is the food and traditions, and how unique it is. I am half german and half korean, and I was born in germany. my grandparents on my mother's side are both korean, and can speak korean better than german. I moved to America when I was 2, and my mom moved to germany when she was young.

저는 한국에서 살다가와서 한국어를 까먹고 싶지 않았고, 계속 배우고 싶었어요. 그리고 한국어 수업이 고등학교 크레딧으로 카운트 되니까 골르기도 했어요. 저는 한국 문화의 좀 잔잔하고 정통적인 점이 좋아요. 한국이 왠만한 나라보다 오래돼다보니까 정통적인 쪽이 엄청 세련 된거 같기도 해요. 저는 3학녀까지 한국에 살다가, 5학년 후반까지 하와이에서 있었어요. 영어 베이스는 하와잉서 배웠어요. 제가 미국(하와이) 막 왔을떼 영어를 ㄹㅇ 하나도 몰라서 그냥 손으로 대화하고 그랬어요 ㅋㅋ. 그리고 6학년 막 시작할떼 워싱텅에 와서 치눅으로 왔어요. 지금 이제 7학년이고 그게 끝이에요.

I am taking Korean class because I want to learn more about Korean culture and be able to speak Korean. I think learning about this is important because it is part of my heritage, and I want to learn about this side of myself. I also want to be able to connect with my Korean relatives and speak to my grandparents in Korean (they know English, but they are more comfortable with Korean and would be happy for me to be able to speak it).
I like many different aspects of Korean culture; food, music, history, clothing, etc. I think it is important to have nutritious, flavorful, delicious food, and Korean food checks all of these boxes. When I visit my grandparents, they usually make homemade Korean food, and it is so delicious- I miss it right now :) I enjoy listening to Korean music (K-POP); it really fits the type of music genres I like. My favorite groups are LOONA, IVE, Le Sserafim, and XG (I don't think it is considered K-POP, but I still really like XG). I always admire Korean fashion, I think it is really pretty and cool. I already like designing outfits, so Korean fashion inspires my outfit ideas :)
I am half Korean and half White (French, Polish, Irish, Scottish). My mom was born in South Korea and then came to the U.S when she was young. My dad was born in California, so he has always been in the U.S. Me and my brother were both born in Washington. We initially lived in Newcastle, Washington, but then we moved to Bellevue later. I also have a Shiba Inu dog named Samson; we got him in 2021. He is currently 5 years old, and will be 6 this year.

I am taking Korean class to learn more about Korean history and culture. Im also taking Korean class to learn how to speak and understand the language for future possible trips to Korea.
Some things i like about Korean culture is the unique history and food. I also like the traditional clothing and dances since i find them really pretty and cool.
Im Chinese, born in the U.S. Specifically born Washington. My Parents first met in China. Later on, they got Married and moved to America in 2010. In 2010-2011 they had my sister and in 2012, they had me.

I am taking Korean class to learn more about Korean culture and their habits. Korea has always been and interesting topic for me because of their history and beautiful language.
A few things I like about Korean culture is the traditional 한복 because they are so gorgeous and so intricate in the designs! I love the language and the way grammar works because it is very unique and different from English, even though it makes it harder to understand it is worth it because I get to learn it.
I am Cambodian and Laos.my grandparents immigrated from Cambodia to America on a boat and had my mom in America in the 1993. I am born in Washington in 2012. My mom and dad had my brother in 2011, and my little sister in 2018.

I am taking this Korean class because I wanted to connect with people with a very different culture. Spanish and French are pretty close to my culture already, especially since my dad speaks those languages all the time at home.

I like how unique and interesting Korean culture is compared to my own. Before Korean class, I liked to read stories based on Korean culture, and in this class I've enjoyed learning about the ancient stories and the original ones the books I read were based on.

I am half-Finnish half-Romanian. My parents met in Finland and immigrated to here near Factoria a couple years before I was born, and moved to a Family home near Interlake when I was 1. My mom grew up in a small-ish town near an industrial city in Finland (Tampere). My dad grew up in Bucharest, the capital of Romania and was a little younger than I am when the communism there was abolished. My parents both encourage me to learn about and accept new cultures.

The reason I took Korean class includes variety of reasons including, to simply get better at Korean even in basic foundations that I know, because there are always rooms to improve, or even to see and observe how a Korean class would go in America. But the main reason in my opinion for taking the class was to earn language points early on before high school. It was near end of middle school I realized that taking a language class (2 and over) will earn you high school world language points to graduate and universities require. This also gave me a realization that if I do it now, I would have more time in high school for electives and higher-level classes instead of world language which led me to this class. But I choose Korean amongst others because I was comfortable and also didn't feel like learning a new language in this point.
Korean culture, although there may be biased, has in my opinion one of the most diverse cultures, following other east Asian nations like Japan and China which has rich culture and history too. Korean Culture not only features the classic eastern architectures but an underestimated long history of evolution and fighting, becoming a great nation to poor then going up again, experiencing a highly dynamic history for thousands of years unlike others. This also comes with tasteful food that sustained tradition through hundreds of years, a traditional clothing, own language, architectures, own words and infusion of Chinese into its own language like 사자성어, 한자, 고상성어, 등등..
I'm Justin. I'm from Korea and I have a Korean nationality, with both Korean parents. Although I'm full Korean on paper, I have been exposed and been affected by a lot of international culture. From Thailand, China, Japan, UK, Spain, US, etc. This led me to go to international school most of my life and was barely exposed to Korean school (Only kindergarten/pre-school). But I still learnt Korean naturally as I lived with my parent's short term trip to Korea, and morehas made me a better Korean speaker at the same time.

1. The main aspect that appealed to me to take Korean class is to get better at Korean. The main reason behind this is because I am from a Korean household who all are able to speak fluent Korean and are from south Korea. The following makes my overall Korean pale compared to theirs. All of the above is one reason I want to get better at Korean, so I don’t really lag behind in fluency and clarity to other family members and family friends. This also correlates with my everyday life sense my family takes trips to south Korea often which leads me into situations where I can only speak Korean to communicate. This used to lead to awkward situations where I couldn’t really convey the right words to other people in Korea. But this was quite a while back, so I don’t find this situation common nowadays. All of the previous reasons make me want to improve my Korean even if that leads to the slightest changes. My overall speaking is moderate while my writing and typing skills are severely lacking in my opinion. Even though I may have some experience in the language I still want to improve on skills I already have can provide a large benefit in the future. Another reason I take the Korean class is because I find the overall language really interesting and unique compared to other languages. This might be a bit biased sense I’m from Korean descent, but I like how the characters interact with each other and how the words flow together. The overall language piques my interest and makes me want to learn more about it.

There are many factors within Korean culture that I like which makes it hard to decide where to even begin. The first thing to come to mind when I think of Korean culture is Korean mythology and legends that originated in Korea. As a kid I was told stories from Korea such as the sun and the moon (해와 달이 된 오누이) and Dokkaebi(도깨비). Both of the following stories and other myths played a major part in my childhood. These stories created an interest in Korean mythology and legends that originated from Korea. Legends such as the legend of Jumong(주몽) which is the story about Jumong who was the founder of Goguryeo kingdom, and the Bulgasari(불가사리) which is a story about a monster and was originated around the 14th century. All these stories and myths helped expand my Korean dialect and improved my overall fluency and understanding of it. These stories also motivated me to read more Korean so I can fully understand all of the text and original scriptures which is still something I still struggle to read to this because of how difficult they are to read. Another reason I like Korean culture is the architecture of old houses and buildings and how they function. An example of this is how Koreans built an indoor heating system during the bronze age. This was created by putting a heat source such as a fire near the house, then there will be a pipe or tunnel system that channels the smoke under the house. After the smoke reaches underneath the house stone slabs would absorb the heat and warm up the floor creating a system that can warm up the home. There are many other functions of each Korean architecture that have improved the lives of everyday people in the past and found remarkably interesting. Another reason I like Korean architecture is the design and how they look with their unique patterns and how they look. Most Korean patterns and imagery on buildings have certain meanings to them which differ depending on the history behind the maker and the building itself. My personal experience background with the Korean language and Korea is mainly rooted with my family. Both my mom and dad are from south Korea and moved to the United States unlike me who was born in the United States. Even though I live in Washington a majority of my family still lives in south Korea which is one of the main reasons why I’m trying to get better at Korean. This is because improving my Korean will make it so my conversations with my family in Korea and people in Korea go smoother and clearer. This can also lead to discussions I wanted to have with people that only speak Korean possible sense I used to not be able to discuss certain topics because of my somewhat limited vocabulary. Other background information is that I spend a lot of time with my grandparents who only speak Korean which causes me to forcefully improve my Korean as I have to communicate with them in some sort of way. I also go to Korea every summer for about 1-2 months and sometimes in the winter too (really depends on the weather). All of the following experiences combined improved my Korean quite a bit and helped me learn the language overall.

1&2. The reason I am taking Korean class is that I find the language and culture really unique and I enjoy learning about other cultures. The reason why I find Korean unique is that someone literally made a whole language to help their people and it made a lot of sense the structure in how they had done it. Also, I've been interested in Korean culture for a long amount of time now because of K-pop and Korean cuisine. I also wanted to learn Korean because I knew that it would open more doors for me eventually like meeting new people in the future and creating new experiences. Taking Korean class also made help me grow new friendships and ones I already had stronger. What I like about Korean culture is that it is really unique and special in its own way. I grew up in a town with a large Asian immigrant influence (mostly Chinese and Korean) which lead to me eating lots of Asian food growing up. Since I liked cooking, I found the way they used the same ingredients in different ways in their cuisine really unique. Also, when I started taking Korean class and learning more about the language and culture it made my interest even bigger.

3. I was born in Mexicali, Baja California and I'm fully Mexican with a just tiny bit of Irish heritage on my mom's side. Both my dad and mom are from Mexicali but my mom being from a more recent European background and my dad's family having some indigenous background. My dad spend a lot of his youth going backpacking to different places and learning their cultures. That also opened up my interest in other cultures from him telling me all his stories. Also, my mom's family side having Irish heritage also opened up my curiosity for learning more about that side of my family and culture. My parents, sisters (2), and I moved to Bellevue in 2022 because my mom had been offered to work in the corporative for her company. Initially I didn't want to move because it meant we had to leave our family and friends but once we got here it was actually better than I expected. There was tons of people from different parts of the world, some born here and some that had moved here like me. Eventually, I met new people who I got to talk about my culture with and I learned about their cultures too like right now.

I am taking Korean class because I need credit for Highschool and because I didn't want to learn a language similar to English to give myself a challenge. Also, I have a relative that is Korean and speaks some of it as well.

I like a variety of Korean things such as the culture and food. Korean culture interests me because I find the difference between cultures unique and I enjoy the process of how they made the delicious foods that many people around the world eat today

I was born in Korea 13 years ago and lived there for about a year or two. When I was 2-3 years old, my parents would travel with me to other countries (I can't name them all because my memory is bad and there were a LOT of places they traveled to). Eventually when I was 4-5, I lived in Hawaii for a couple of years then moved here a few years later.

I am taking Korean class because I want to be able to speak Korean with friends. Learning Korean also may help me with my career in the future.
Some things that I like about Korean culture is food, games, holidays. I love foods like 떡볶이, 비빔밥, 찹재 and especially 삼겹살.
I was born in Omaha and went back to Nepal after 1 year. I stayed in Nepal until 1st grade, moved to Washington for 8 months then went back to Nepal. I stayed in Kathmandu until mid 3rd grade then moved to Pokhara, then after 2 and a half years I came back to Kenmore for 2 months then moved to Bellevue for better education.

I like Korean food, their traditional clothing, it's so pretty, I also like how people write Korean symbols. It's so unique with its language rules, and grammar.
I was born in Russia (Surgut) and came to America in 2023. I'm half Russian and half Ukrainian, my dad is Ukrainian and my mom is Russian. Before I came to Washington I lived in New York with my mom's classmate. Every summer I go to Russia to meet my grandparents; I always go to my grandma's house from my dad's side in Krasnodar, but sometimes I go to my other grandma's house from my mom's side.
