Men’s lives drip down the drain 

Minute by minute and none of the uniformed men mind 

Inside, or beyond barbed wire. 

Where is the justice in rotting like a piece of 

bread in the back of the cupboard 

Where the only lesson the bread learns is how 

To fester in the darkness? 

Like an animal being studies, every movement to 

Shit or walk or chew is quantified by white men with 

Extra letters at the end of their name. 

I want to walk down a sidewalk and get soaked in the 

Rain and buy a cup of coffee from a proprietor, who 

I would smile at and have a conversation like 

A human being. 

Where is the justice in a life of concrete made by men 

Because of laws of men that were broken? 

There is so much more to this terrible, beautiful world 

 than men. 

Locked up for only a joint, which young white teenagers 

Smoke in leafy north shore streets in their cars 

Every night. 

And when the cops roll up to them, 

They are told to go home.
