I am a student at Mater Lakes Academy and next year I’m going to be a sophomore. My favorite color is red and lavender. My favorite subject is reading and writing. I enjoy writing essays or stories, even though others may not because I use writing as a way to express my feelings. I enjoy listening to 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s music because of my father. Some of my favorite songs include “This Love” by Maroon 5, “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi, and “In a Dream” by Rockell.

My favorite people in my life have to be my family. I live in a family of 5, well technically 4 if we don’t consider my cat. My father is my best friend. He wakes up at five in the morning and works hard everyday to provide everything for us. He always treats me like a princess and brings me flowers from work whenever he can. My mother is my BFF for life! Everyone likes to say we look like sisters, but I don’t see it. My mother is the wisest person I know and I don’t know where I’d be without her advice. She always is looking out for me and sometimes I feel like we’re in sync. She’s the only person that truly understands me. My brother and I are 7 years apart, so I can’t really talk to him about important stuff, but he somehow manages to always know when something is wrong with me. He’s always praying over me and drawing for me. We always fight everyday over silly stuff, but some days I can’t even believe I have a sibling. I sit back and think on how grateful I am that God blessed me with a sibling. Last, but definitely not least is my cat. His name is “Michu”. My cat has been with us since the year 2022 and we’ve had him since he was able to drink milk. We rescued Michu from a marina and people may not like cats because they’re not “affectionate”, but cats are affectionate in their own way. My cat sleeps with me every night and spends time with my mom as she works. I am forever grateful that my family is my family.

My favorite show is Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls is my comfort show and the perfect fall show to set the mood. My mother and I watch the show together, so whenever she’s busy I can’t watch it and vice versa. This show has taught me many lessons and is very exciting to watch. My mother and I relate to this show, since it’s a show about a mother and daughter as well.

My favorite movie is Shrek 2. I always say the original is better for everything, but in this case I really like Shrek 2. Shrek 2 shows the challenges and obstacles that Shrek has to overcome. Shrek is even willing to become human for Fiona and to me that shows how much he loves her. I love the transformation between all the characters and I enjoy the fact this movie is family friendly.

If I were to have an unlimited supply of anything, it’d be time. To me, time is very precious and I wish I could spend every moment with my family or doing activities I enjoy. I dislike the idea of getting older because I wish I was young forever. I used to go from adding numbers, to multiplying them, and now adding letters in math. I feel like I waste my time doing silly things like that and I wish I was able to explore the world with my family and have fun without worrying about what year, day, or time it is.

Comparison is the thief of Joy. I usually compare myself to others because I may not be as smart as them and even though i work hard I won’t be like them. I cried because I scored a 3 on my Algebra EOC and my friend scored a 4. I expected I would do better because I knew the material, I studied for weeks, and I was confident. I didn’t do as well as i expected, but I passed and I believe that I did my best and that’s all that matters. I’m more confident in myself and who I am because of moments like those.

Let them. I never knew what this really meant, until it happened to me multiple times. I’m the type of person who tries to be in control of everything because I want it to go well. However, this is not a good trait to have and I’m slowly acknowledging that I just need to let people do what they want because if I can’t make people treat me a certain way or want to talk to me. I stopped texting people and I found out which friendship was just there because of me. I’m spending more time alone and putting myself first.

I attended a private Christian school from Pre-k to 1st grade. Unfortunately, it was shut down and I ended up attending Youth Co Op Charter School from second to sixth grade. I then left to COHEA or CIty Hialeah Educational Academy for my seventh and eighth grade year. Towards the end of my eight grade year I realized I wanted something bigger and geared towards a school with more opportunities. Now, I am a proud bear of Mater Lakes Academy!

Born in Broward and raised in Hialeah, Florida. I’m half Nicaraguan and half Cuban. I visit Nicaragua almost every summer. I’d one day want to go to Cuba if I could.

I do pilates and spinning at my mom’s gym called the Yard Miami. I’ve made many friends there and some folks from my church also go there. I do this to stay in shape and it’s convenient because my mom also goes there.

I enjoy painting and drawing because it calms me down. I love brushing the paintbrush softly and gently across the canvas. Drawing helps me bring out my imaginative side and think outside the box.

Going to the beach with my family also soothes me because we relax in the sand, splash in the water, and after leaving the beach with a nice tan we go out to eat in a restaurant nearby.

My goal is to graduate, have an outstanding position in my career, and make my parents proud. School is really hard as it is and I can barley spend time with my family because I’m doing homework. After, I graduate I can focus mainly on my career and my family without having any distractions that school comes with. The plan is to become something in the medical field. I want to have an outstanding position because I want to make a lot of money to give my children everything they want. Not in a spoiled way, but in a way they will get to experience things that my parents couldn’t. My parents worked hard to give me everything they couldn’t, so I want to do the same for my children. They give me the world and when I’m older I’ll buy them a house on the beach.
