Question: Whether creative businesses can refuse certain services based on their First Amendment rights of free speech and free exercise of religion.

In this instance a custom wedding cake was requested for a same-sex marriage ceremony. But the bakery refused to sell wedding cakes to same-sex couples.

In Colorado the law prohibits public accommodations, including businesses open to the public such as Masterpiece Cakeshop, from refusing service based on characteristics like race, religion, or sexual orientation.
