Hi everyone! My name is Daisy Balderas, and I was born and raised in Sunnyside, Washington. I’m 20 years old and a first generation college student. This is my first year in college, and I’m really excited to meet new people and get to know you all throughout this semester.

I graduated from Sunnyside High School in 2023. Spending all 4 years of high school there as well as growing up in the community and creating memories that I will never forget. Although high school was challenging for me especially during my senior year and I found the confidence to push myself to do my best. I am now attending Heritage University where I am pursing a degree in teacher education.

I'm am the oldest of four siblings. I have two sisters and one brother. Stacy is a freshmen in college and we are both currently attending Heritage University. Gracie is in eighth grade. And my youngest sibling Juan whom we often call him Junior is in 2nd grade. And has the oldest, I strive to guide and support my siblings, particularly my younger brother. And as you can see in the picture my mom is married to my stepdad.

In my culture, I love being hispanic is just one of best things in life. Being a Mexican is just a blessing for me because it gives me the chance to follow my dreams while being surrounded by kindness and love. What I enjoy most about my culture is are the traditions, food and others. I also love the music, dancing and visiting my family members which always makes me feel connected to who I am and where I come from.

I grew up in Sunnyside, but for a while my mom, my siblings and I moved to different places. And we been living here in Sunnyside for 21 years. Growing up here in Sunnyside has been such a blessing for me and my family. My favorite parts of growing up is spending time with my siblings and I could not imagine life without them and especially my mom.
