There are also numerous differences between coyotes and wolves. Manisha Kumar claims that the most visible difference between coyotes and wolves is their size (Difference Between.net). Fritts makes known that a wolf weighs between thirty-one and one hundred forty pounds, but most commonly weighs about one hundred pounds, while the AZ Animals Staff adds that coyotes weight range is only fifteen to fifty pounds (Britannica, AZ Animals). Fritts notes that wolves hunt in packs; however, the AZ Animals Staff tells that coyotes almost always hunt in pairs, with a very rare group hunt for a large animal. Another thing that is very different between a coyote and a wolf is its feelings about humans. A coyote adapts its lifestyle to humans, which has allowed them to thrive (Britannica, AZ Animals). Manisha Kumar states that despite the coyote having these types of feelings towards humans, wolves are much less adjustable to humans. There is also a very big difference between the types of prey that wolves and coyotes consume. Wolves consume moose, sheep, and goats; however, a coyote’s prey is rabbits, mice, and some vegetation (Difference Between.net). A final difference between wolves and coyotes is the speed at which they can run. The AZ Animals staff informs that the coyote can run up to forty-three miles per hour, while Fritts states that wolves can run about thirty-seven miles per hour (AZ Animals, Britannica). These are some of the very many differences between coyotes and wolves.

Coyotes and wolves both have physical characteristics in common, but there are several differences between the two, including their feelings about humans and how they hunt for their prey. There are also many similarities between a wolf and coyote, such as the color of their fur. Another one of the most well-known differences between coyotes and wolves is their size. There are many physical traits and characteristics between coyotes and wolves that are similar, but the two animals also have contrasting attributes.

“The wolf pack will die when scattered by man, the lonesome coyote survives,” said Kris Kristofferson on AZ Quotes (“Coyote Quotes,” AZ Quotes). Steven Fritts states that wolves live and hunt in packs, so if they are scattered by man, they will die (Britannica). The AZ Animals Staff tells that coyotes have adapted their lifestyles to humans, and normally hunt in pairs or alone (AZ Animals). This shows that coyotes can live on their own without having to be with another coyote. Coyotes and wolves both have physical characteristics in common, but there are several differences between the two, including their feelings about humans and how they hunt for their prey.

The AZ Animals Staff and Stephen Fritts both state that there are many similarities between coyotes and wolves, most likely the most noticeable one being that both of them are the color grey. Wolves and coyotes are mammals that are in the Canidae family. Another similarity between the two is that they are both carnivores that live in the Northern Hemisphere. The two live everywhere in the United States, and some certain places in Europe. They form strong family groups that they live with throughout the year. Finally, both of these animals are known for their howling (AZ Animals, Britannica). There are other similarities between wolves and coyotes, but these are the similarities that can be found between the two animals.
