Panic and fire act

The Panic and Fire act was a very important reform to be accepted. After the triangle shirtwaist fire factory occurred in 1911, many people were killed and injured. The cause was because the the doors to the stairwells and exits were locked. They did this so they could prevent workers from taking unauthorized breaks and to reduce theft. So as the fire started, and workers were on the 9th, 10th, etc, floor many of the workers could not escape from the burning building. They would have no option but to jump out of windows, knowing there was a very very rare chance of survival from so far up. The Panic and fire act was passed in 1927, creating a stronger sense of necessities throughout workforces and schools, etc. For example They created more exits from schools, and workforces, etc. This has effected our lives greatly. We now practice fire drills, and hve multiple exit signs on each floor, guriding us to safety. Lastly this shows if anything happened we would be safe and nothing bad would happen to us, which makes everyone in the building feel safe, and carefree.

Social Security Act (SSI and SSDI)

The SSA was a good implemented act. When you are born you have a social security number it is connected to your names in the records so you are ensured with your earnings properly. You need a Social Security number to apply for a job or a credit card, and you can't collect Social Security benefits in retirement or obtain some other government services without having one. This helped elders mostly. FDR created this program that 62 and older retirees could earn money monthly to be retired. Depending on your age, depends on the number of money earned each month. This is to fit basic needs, like food, clothing, and shelter. The base monthly federal amount varies depending on your living arrangement and countable income. Not everyone gets the same amount. It is also determined by your yearly payroll tax contributions. It essentially provides a foundation of income on which workers can build to plan for their retirement. It also provides valuable social insurance protection to workers who become disabled and to families whose breadwinner dies. This is still used today which is important, because it helps people throughout the world. It creates a good foundation for families to get money for basic needs, if you are in one of those categories, so they can get aided. Lastly it helps people ensure there earnings to determine the social security benefits.

School - Instructional Time act

As we spend time at school, it is only fair that we should be able to get a good education. Not only should we have a good education but we need an amount of time to learn the curriculum, where it can really be broken down and implemented to every, to impact them. Education is very important in life, if you want to get a job, you need to have education. You honestly need education for everything. It is the utmost important that we have enough time in the year and we are required to learn for a set amount of time, in order to really learn at the next level. Not only to help us become for social, but to help us learn a variety of different subjects, that will help us later in life. As I talk about this, I describe the Instructional time act. All public schools are to be open each school year for at least one hundred eighty (180) days of instruction for pupils. It requires an amount of days going to school, and an amount of hours required for the school to teach. This act being passed is very important to the youth, and me. It helps me become educated on life, and various daily life skills, adults use in everyday life. it really sets me up for the future, so as these hours and days are required it just helps me more. Although sometimes I may not like going all the time. It has a very very positive impact on my life.

Medicare and Medicaid act

The Medicare and Medicaid act was passed in 1965. Medicaid is important throughout society today and was during the great society. It created a new revolution of insurance. Medicaid is the primary health insurance program for low-income Americans, offering quality, affordable, and full health care coverage to nearly 65 million people, including those with cancer, those who will be diagnosed with cancer, and cancer survivors. Having health insurance through Medicaid helps Americans stay healthy, go to work, care for their families and pay their bills. The Medicaid program also helps communities, hospitals, schools, and economy thrive. This helps many americans today. For example it effects me very positively, because since I am a child with an autoimmune disease the state pays for my medical bills like insulin, etc, etc. It is a government paid insurance. If it was not for this reform, it would be very tough for families that are not as fortunate. As of Medicare it is an insurance forminumum to low wage elders 65 and older. Medicare coverage is especially important to low-income elderly people because they are in poorer health than higher income elderly people and have few financial assets to draw on when faced with high medical costs. This helps millions of elders throughout america, and loads a lot of stress of of there back.

16th amendment: Income tax

The 16th amendment of income tax passed in 1913 had an array of effects on people. It was very positive on america. It played a central role in building up the powerful American federal government of the 20th century by making it possible to enact a modern, nationwide income tax. Not so long after income tax would become by far the federal government's largest source of revenue. It allows the federal (United States) government to levy (collect) an income tax from all Americans. Income tax allows for the federal government to keep an army, build roads and bridges, enforce laws and carry out other important duties. They need to create this to get more power and money towards the government. Before this Amendment, the federal government relied heavily on "tariffs" or import taxes for money. This was not the best way because tariffs increased the price of imported goods, So we would be spending more unnecessary money. The 16th amendment is still in effect today. In some ways it keeps our government stable and strong with power, and we pay to taxes for them to use money on an array of things. The Amendment exempts a major form of taxation from sharing, and therefore remains just as important today as it was in 1913. It is a very positive effect today that we need, and affects us everyday. It effects me because we pay taxes to go to school.

In conclusion all of these reforms have a great impact on the society and lives today. As the Panic and fire act, impose more exits in buildings, the Social Security act helps you earn benefits based on your age, and insurance if you are disabled, etc. The medicare and medicaid act insure your medical bills if you are either a low class elder, or have a disability or disease. Income tax helps our government stay powerful and have money and lastly the instructional time act, allows us to go to school for a set time, to get a very good education. As you can tell these reform act's are very important to us, not only back then, but in today's world too. Billions and Billions of people get to live with less stress on there back because of the reforms passed, and therefore that is why these have a positive impact on today's community and myself.
