The quotes explain how people are becoming less curious due to technology. This can be compared to society nowadays because technology such as TV and phones cause people to be distracted to a screen instead of their life. When people are distracted by technology, it conditions them to not be curious, because they aren’t thinking since they stare at a screen. Also, in the story, the government uses the mechanical hound to condition people to not be curious since the people are afraid of the hound. The government uses the hound to make citizens afraid of breaking the law, so they do what the government tells them to do, which conditions them to be less curious. Society would be better if people were conditioned to be more curious instead less curious.
