Palmer was an ordinary ten year old girl in a neighborhood located in Salt Lake City. She was attacked and killed outside her front door with no one to witness the crime. After several years, in 2009 her case was finally solved.

Palmer's mother found her dead on the front porch severely beaten and with five visible stab wounds to the throat. Her neighborhood seemed like a safe place to have a family and raise young children, but after Palmer's attack, her neighbors were not sure just how safe they really were.

Although it was apparent that little Anna had been murdered, it took many years to solve the case. There were several factors that prevented detectives from finding Palmer's murderer. The lack of witnesses along with a lack of science were the main reasons the cases lasted so long; there were no suspects.
