As a 21 year old male I identify as a straight male. My identity represent who I am and what I am doing with my life. I have always felt I represented myself well with my visual image the world may see . A week 3 reading " The social construction of gender" helped me paint a better picture of what it entailed and the different aspects of gender identity. This falls under the category of intersectionality as social categorizations because using who I am using my experiences is the theme if my pallet

Taking into account that my parents came from two distinct backgrounds, I come from a diversified background. From my mother's side, I am Italian, and from my father's, I am Canadian. These days, there is a stigma attached to being a white guy in society. Although I embrace my identity, our culture makes color the center of attention. A book's cover cannot be used to assess it. As mentioned in Week 5 "We are all a work in progress" I believe that excerpt directly appoints how I feel about my role in society and how I used someone else's experience to understand my own.

I am a person who holds values and faith of christianity highly. It was never forced upon me, but rather me taking a liking to its purpose. Its stereotypical with my skin color, but regardless of the image people might see, I have chose to represent this and being who I am with life choices has made me today

Everybody has encountered life's setbacks. I know this because I've personally experienced it via my tattooing, I've been called ghetto., among other things. This relates in a way to Week 6's "Straight White Male". It suggests that privilege is a name that we bear as white males, thus meaning a label has been created on who we are. You can't judge a book by its cover.

Everybody is different from the other in some manner. It was not meant for us to be the same person. Everybody has everyday problems. We have preferences for particular outfits, hues, and individuals. It's not easy to blend in with society or accept who you are. The distinction lies in your ability to create a pleasant environment for yourself. My perspective is relevant to gender and this class specifically because we should accept who we are rather than the outside world. As long as we can understand that we are created to be unique, it is acceptable to be different—whether that means we look or sound different.
