My name is Anna Russo, I was born in Monopoli (BA), a little city in the South of Italy, but now I live and work in Gravina in Puglia (BA). I'm a teacher of Italian, Latin, History and Geography. I love reading and some years ago I used to write on a blog about books.

I'd like to improve my English and my digital skills. Actually, I'm not very able in using digital tools... and I don't speak English very well, but I've been enjoying this course to learn! I also want to share my experiences and my knowledge with other teachers.

I think CLIL methodolgy is an important opportunity for teachers and for students, so I'd like to learn all about it.

It need a deep change in our mind.

It develops intercultural communication skills....

CALP requires learners to do the kind of listening, speaking, reading and writing which learners do within subjects; they need to understand and produce the vocabulary of subjects; to follow and generate the kinds of sentences and texts which are characteristic of formal subject study and to use the L2 to engage in the kinds of thinking which teachers expect learners to use.

Verbs like consist, involve, occurr, increase: general and cross-curricular vocabulary. The biggest vocabulary which CALP contains is not specific to subjects, but specific to school learning.

I teach Italian and Latin: I believe teaching CALP and metacognitive skills is very important also for L1 and for classical languages. Sometimes we spend a lot of time in teaching Literature and History of Literaure but forget the skills that are important in a formal communication.

CLIL can offer a significant contribution to that goal. Students do not only have to learn how to talk about key issues in the lingua franca. They also need to become aware of the hidden cultural codes and the appropriate linguistic and non-linguistic means and strategies to address them and they need to be taught how to keep the flow of communication going without offending the partner.Looking at various topics from different cultural angles, realizing that other cultures tend to see things differently, have different values and beliefs, is one of the most valuable experiences that CLIL may offer.

Despite these problems, I think videos are a powerful and effective tools for teaching and learning, expecially in a society in which students are often expert users of this kind of media. In fact, the Web 2.0 philosophy is focused on producing, uploading, remixing and sharing content with the help of video clips.

So, I'll improve my skills in using powtoon, as soon as possible!!!
