I am from Colombia where I was a teacher too, we are an Army family 2 children and a dog, and we love Washington.

In Heritage we work mostly in reading and writing since we can communicate orally accurately, we work hard on spelling but mostly on be proud of our culture. So please encourage your children to use Spanish at home.

In the afternoons they have independent work to complete assignments or do homework. Sometimes I meet with some of the students to help them with something specific, but I am available during the school day to whatever they need, they just need to tag me with the question/concern.

All assignments and tasks can be found in the "Assignments" tab on our class' Teams page, and are always posted by 3:45pm the day before they are due, and are to be turned in by 3:15pm on the due date. These are usually due on Wednesdays, since that is our Asynchronous day. 

It is critically important that students are logged on during Synchronous Class Sessions each Monday and Thursday morning by 8:45am. In high school, we offer Concert Chorus as a beginning-intermediate, non-auditioned (anyone can join), full year choir, and Chamber Choir as a rigorously auditioned, highly advanced full-year ensemble. Chamber Choir is a multiple award winning, regionally recognized ensemble which has represented HP at festivals and competitions around Washington State at several colleges and Universities. Members of Chamber Choir have gone on to major in music at Pacific Lutheran  University, Columbia Basin College, Central Washington University, and Berkeley School of Music. We usually offer HPX Choirs after school in the Fall, which are auditioned at the intermediate level, but are taking this year off due to the pandemic. Chamber Choir is also our IB Music class, which offers students the chance to earn college credit and points towards the IB Diploma. This class is supported and enhanced by a team of several student leadership positions each year.
