It also enables access to graphical weather displays,significant weather activity notice, text based advisory and notices to airmen. It also helps with shared situational awareness and  critical see-and-avoid capabilities 

ADS-B Out broadcasts information about your aircraft's go's location, altitude, ground speed and other data, to ground stations or other ADS-B in equipped aircraft.  With sufficient ADS-B equipped aircraft, locating an aircraft even amidst obstacles in irregular terrain is possible due to the nature of ADS-R.
