The Soviet Union prompted Nazi Germany to sign a “non-aggression” treaty which outlined their agreement that no military action would be taken against the two countries for 10 years. However, only one week late on the 1st of September, Germany had breached this treaty and invaded Poland. This ensued on the basis that the country had been working with its allies, Great Britain and France, in order to encompass and dismember Germany. Germany seized Poland once it defeated the Polish army. Approximately 6 million people were lost.
