In the 1800s the Populist Party had 5 Senators, 3 Governors, and 1,500 State Legislators. He also ran the Front Porch Campaign from Canton' Ohio. This lead to the creation to Labor Unions which is a group of people who want to protect and further their rights. Americans were encouraged to settle west-ward because of the economic boom. When the railroads were made there was a shift from a local/regional economy to a national economy of goods based on specialization and interdependence. Its interesting to hear what the work place use to be like back then and how un-trusting employers would be of their workers. I think that its really sad that those women's lives could have been saved if they had laws at the time. I know that she had a big impact because even though this unfortunately is still happening around the world  there has been a decline in it.
