He was the Republican candidate in 1896, he was a goldbug because he wanted gold to continue to back up money supply. He also ran the Front Porch Campaign from Canton' Ohio. Some of the reasons why he was a goldbug was because he wanted there to be less money in circulation and because he wanted loans would be repaired in stable money. In the end he won the election in 1896.

Manual Labor (big idea)

One of the shifts that was brought about the industrial revolution was that the demand for skilled workers went down and that the demand for unskilled workers rose. ome of the problem with the factories that people worked in was that they had long hours, low pay, no health insurance and that everyone could be replaced. This lead to the creation to Labor Unions which is a group of people who want to protect and further their rights. Early labor strikes were very violent and happend often between workers, employers and police so this hurt union membership growth early on.

The Central and Pacific Railway lines met at Promontory Point, Utah and was made by Irish and Chinese immigrants. Americans were encouraged to settle west-ward because of the economic boom. When the railroads were made there was a shift from a local/regional economy to a national economy of goods based on specialization and interdependence. Unfortunately the Transcontinental railroads has the biggest effective on Native Americans.

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire (interesting thing)

I think something that I thought was interesting was the shirtwaist factory fire that happen in NY. Its interesting to hear what the work place use to be like back then and how un-trusting employers would be of their workers. I think that its really sad that those women's lives could have been saved if they had laws at the time. Its also interesting to see how much the labor union had an impact at the time at work places and I couldn't even imagine what going to a job would be like now if those people never started to demand to have their rights.

I decided to write about this women because of what she did for the child when there were no child labor laws and when she toke a group of kids up to the president. I know that she had a big impact because even though this unfortunately is still happening around the world there has been a decline in it. I would have probably started working at a very early age if she didn't take those kids to see the president. all in all we can say that our world would be very different today in the industrial revolution never happen.
