The boulevard only has buildings on its north side which gives it a panoramic view of the Pyrenees which are 50km south. The boulevard runs from Parc du Beaumont to the Château de Pau. The funicular runs from the boulevard to the station. Napoleon 1 suggested it and the boulevard overlooks terraced gardens. In clear weather you can see the Pic du Midi du Bigorre, Pic d’Anie and the Pic du Midi d’Ossau. Along the railings of the boulevard there are plaques pointing out each mountain.
