The issue I am trying to battle is how low of that wealth goes towards transportation and infrastructure. Take Vestavia Hills, for example. We have absolutely no sidewalks in neighborhoods. There are kids walking to school on the highway. These kids have to walk on the side of the road, rather than from the safety of a sidewalk. In Helena, people are pretty much cut off from Birmingham. There are no highways that go there, making the commute much longer. In Birmingham, there are people like nurses and retail workers who work night shifts. We are making billions of dollars a year and barely any of that money goes towards amenities for the hard working Alabamians who pay their fair share of taxes.
