Tom's character is a troublemaker. i know this because in the text it states that tom was trying to persuade Becky to spend time alone  with her to go get ice cream.  tom is also trying to convince Becky to go to the widow Douglas instead of going to the Harper's home.He goes on to ask how her mom would even know .He doesn't seem to care about what is right .whereas Becky's character is convince . Tom's character is persuasive. I know this because in the text it states that he is trying to convince Becky to go with him to get ice cream and to also stay alone with him  instead of going to Susie Harper's house. He also told her that," If your  mom had thought of it, she would have let you go." Whereas Becky's character is responsible. I know this because in paragraph 9 in page 5 Becky said," But what will mamma say to me." She also was worried about what her mom would say if she would have figured out about getting the ice cream over the hill with him. She also  was kind to Tom because she went to widow Douglas to get ice cream with  him. That's just a few reasons why Toms and Becky's characters traits are different .
