1) A- What are the two main ideas presented in the article?

The two main ideas presented in the article are that an infection seems to have caused the decline of honeybee populations and the other main idea is that honeybees have not been very busy lately, and maybe it is the pesticides fault.

Main Idea 1: "This widespread problem is called Colony Collapse Disorder. It's the main reason the honeybee population in the U.S today has declined to half of what it was 50 years ago."

Main Idea 2: "In recent years, beekeepers in many countries have lost thousands of colonies and billions of bees. The insects would suddenly disappear and not return to their hives."

2) How does point of view impact what the reader learns about the missing bees?

The point of view impacts what the reader learns about missing bees because it states facts that maybe not much kids knew before. For example, I never knew that so many bees were going extinct, I knew a lot were endangered but, I never knew billions were endangered! Also, by reading these points of views and this text I found out there is a disease called "Colony Collapse Disorder" that was causing bees to die. I know all this information because the author stated, "Over the past few years billions of honeybees have disappeared," and "This widespread problem is called Colony Collapse Disorder," this tells me many bees have disappeared because of that disease or maybe even pesticides!

3) Think about how each argumentative article is organized. Which author's STYLE is more convincing? WHY?

I think the second author's style is more convincing because it uses a lot of facts and true statements. I also believe that the second author did a better job because he really persuaded me to personally think that pesticides may be the problem with missing bees. I notice that the second author also really went into detail with the topic he/she was talking about.

4) What do you think caused the bees to disappear? Support your answer with reasons.

I think the problem that caused bees to disappear is the disease called Colony Collapse Disorder because the two authors had both mentioned that disease a lot. For example, in the text the first author stated, "This widespread problem is called Colony Collapse Disorder," and the second author also said, "About 30 percent of the honeybee colonies that die are due to this condition, called Colony Collapse Disorder," this tells me that most of the bees that have gone missing is due to this disease.

5) How do YOU think people can help honeybees?

I think people can help honeybees by being more aware and careful with them. I also think they should learn how much they help us because sometimes people think bees are there to sting you or harm you but that's not true, they are just doing their amazing job of helping us. Another way people can help honeybees is, be more careful when you use pesticides for crops and plants because if you spray bees they can die. Overall, it doesn't matter in what way we help bees, but we have to save them because they are part of the reason we breath and have food. Therefore, we should appreciate them and help them not harm them.
