This career path I have chosen is one I feel very passionate about. I love helping others, and I especially have a soft spot for kids and teens. In order to reach my desired career I will need to first graduate college with my bachelors, then receive my masters degree in counseling. Within this career I will be making roughly $65,000 a year. I would love to work my way up within this Job field and be able to increase my salary.
https://work.chron.com/expected-salaries-child-therapists-4582.html

I myself have gone to counseling before. I attended a therapist once a week for about a year while I was in the sixth grade. During this time I was feeling very alone and my Dog had just passed away super tragically. I also attended again both my sophomore year and junior year of high school, after my dad passed away super suddenly . I personally believe getting that help was essential to making me the person I am today.
https://greatist.com/grow/surprising-benefits-therapy#1

Throughout my life I have been very involved in volunteer work such as volunteering at the children's medical center in Downtown Dallas, The Stewpot homeless shelter and special needs gymnastic classes. I love getting to work with people who have not had it quite so easy. They show you that nothing is impossible and that you might just have to work 100x harder to reach your goal. Nothing comes handed to you and if it does then wheres the fun there. I want to work to help the struggling community, and to show them they aren't alone and that its okay to ask for help.
https://counselor-license.com/careers/child-pediatric-counselor/

Steps to reach this Career

The first step to reaching this career would be to first graduate college with my Bachelors degree in either psychology, Social work or Education. I would then go on to earn my Masters degree in Counseling. After completing the schooling, I would then go on to get some work experience. A total of 3,000 hours is the requirements you must meet before taking the licensing exam. Once I have completed my experience hours, and complete my licensing exam, I would be fully prepared to open my own counseling office.
https://study.com/articles/How_to_Become_a_Teen_Therapist_Education_Requirements_and_Career_Info.html

A normal day for me in this career would look like, going into my office space around 10 a.m. to prepare for my appointments. Then, around 1 p.m I would take a 2 hour lunch break and return around 3 p.m. to continue seeing patients till 6:30 p.m. I will work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday during the day and Saturday in the mornings/early afternoon. Since I am my own boss basically, I will make my own hours and be in charge of my own vacation days and such.
https://www.manrepeller.com/2017/10/therapy-as-a-job.html

I will attend Oklahoma State University to earn my Bachelors of Science. I will then start shadowing or volunteering in various areas within counseling. Once I have for sure decided I want to proceed I will then attend more schooling to earn my Masters of Science in Counseling. This will most likely take more than just 5 years but as of now I at least have the idea of what my plan is going to be.
https://education.okstate.edu/coun/
