Last week, I asked my students to design different habitats for crocodiles. They were allowed to use colored sheets of paper, scissors and glue. Even though they worked in teams and some of them did it in third dimention they used only three senses. After class I thought of allowing them to use the materials they wish (next time). If I use music while they are drawing, cutting, painting or modling maybe the results are different. Perhaps in this new variety could use all five senses. I would like to try this way to see if I can engage all senses and address all my students' learning styles. Thanks for reading.
By Angélica Sánchez Jaime.

Actually, with the previous session, I realized that this is my teaching style. I was unaware of this kind of education. For me, it is important not only to transmit knowledge but also to be aware of the importance of creating human beings with values, developing their emotional intelligence, and awareness of their environment. Every time I see an opportunity in my classes, I complement by looking for videos, reflections, some exercise that provokes that expansion in them... I always try to have an organized classroom, open the windows to have natural light, try to make each of the students feel heard, and respected, call them by their name... make them feel that they can trust me, that they can show themselves as they are because it is a space of respect and harmony; and when the discipline of the children favors the occasion, I like to put music for their work.

- Patricia Larissa Tarín Hernández

Teaching in a holistic way means that we see the student as a whole, not only in a cognitive way but as a complete person. We stimulate the mind, the soul, the body so the student can acquire the knowledge and integrate it.
This is the only way the student will move this new knowledge to the long term memory.

The holistic approach in teaching is a new approach that can be implemented with students, encompassing the various areas of the human being such as the physical, mental, spiritual, and all its areas of development, promoting reflection, emotional intelligence, and cognitive, conflict resolution, as well as leadership skills, based on the four pillars of education. An example would be, treatment of a specific subject in class, then the students will participate by raising the background of the knowledge they have on the subject, as well as the development of the investigation starting with premises, to later raise the problem putting themselves in the place of the problem. to later propose solutions in teams, and address the affect in said approaches, all this working as a team.

Holistic education proposes a creative, comprehensive and multidisciplinary that seeks to develop versatile thoughts, oriented to research and to the construction of a better world, involving knowledge with feelings and emotions as part of a whole. His approach transcends the cognitive aspect and includes emotional, social, artistic and spiritual aspects. In my English lessons

I try to put them into practice all the time, however, there are topics that are perfect, such as stories and fables, where students reflect on the moral, I think this is a good exercise. Raising awareness and reinforcing values.

I believe it is more important than ever to use different approaches to improve our lessons and teaching styles. Children were severely affected by the pandemic, therefore trying to fill the gap knowledge is not an easy task.
With the help of holistic education where we are motivating the students to use all of their senses, their creativity, thinking skills and collaboration we are helping them achieve the learning goals.
One of the activities we work on is creating their own comics, we begin by watching short clips about different comics and superheroes, we read short and funny stories like “Captain underpants”, then students form teams (I try to form heterogeneous teams: NH-NM-NL), then they get to draw and create their own superheroes with the superpowers they want! They really enjoy creating them, they write them in English and everybody gets excited to collaborate on making them. They present them in front of the class and they get to “act” a part of the comic they wrote. Finally, we publish their work on the school web page, they can interact and leave likes and emojis for the comics they like the most, and we also invite parents and teachers to leave a comment to motivate them.
