What I learned and practiced about line weight, contour, cross contour, and observational drawing were lighter and thinner lines show that they are further back and thicker, bolder lines show it being closer. Drawing the contour can help you draw what is actually there and not what you think is there.

What I learned from watching and understanding Heather Hansen's work was that art doesn't have to be an actual picture of something or be detailed. Then, we scribbled in class using markers, crayons, colored pencils, or chalk. Then, we used sidewalk chalk outside. What I did was I sat down and just drew a circle around me without moving at first, then I leaned forward and made another part of a circle around the first circle. What I learned about artistic thinking was it can be very fluid and most of the time you just be creative and do what you like doing.

My object was a toy dinosaur. Techniques I applied were trying to not use lines and let the lines be made from the different shades of the objects because of that I think it made my drawing look more finished. What I learned from this project was to not use lines for everything and to really try to show the contrasting shades. Critique and Rubric feedback results showed my strong areas are my shading and the details I drew and my areas to grow were needing to make certain shadows darker. I revised my work by going back in and darkening some shadows and trying to finish as much as i could.

We learned that a still life is a drawing of objects in a random order to have a variety of sizes and shapes. Techniques for still life composition included not having your main object right in the center and not having everything be geometrical and perfectly aligned. The item I brought was a small toy dinosaur. My planning was focused mainly on how close or far away the drawing should be to my objects and included me trying to fit in the objects i wanted without a lot of extra objects.

I chose to create an image of a field with paths leading into the distance that shows how I learned to use line weight to show the paths getting further away and the clouds getting smaller further back in the sky. I also felt like just the paths would be bland so I added in the signpost with a shadow to try and show its depth. This was my first major art project of Art 1. Critique and rubric results showed my strong areas were the perspective and my areas to grow were more details and darker colors. I revised my work by trying to darken the colors and color everything in as much as I could.
