I've read a wonderful book... Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K Rowling. About this book I really liked the protagonist, Harry. He has green eyes like her mother, Lily Potter, and a scar on his forehead. He's nice, smart and with a big heart like his father, James Potter. Then of this book I really liked one particular sentence: " it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" said Albus Dumbledore when Harry was looking in the mirror his parents...

                 (by Marica Galante )

(Livia Vanella)
You may already know what this book is about by the title, so I guess I'll just give my opinion about it.
What really got me into this novel was the basic idea: using a time passage to change forever time's rules by not letting Kennedy be killed and breaking worldwide people's heart. This happened on the 22th november of 1963, when three shots resounded in Dallas and killed the president who started to show heart and mind to every 'race' in the world. Jake Epping, the main character, seems to disagree with letting this event pass by.
The book inspired a short series last year, played by one of my favourite actors: James Franco.

It tells about his victory and defeat. I don't want to talk about the story itself, but I want to write my opinion about it.
I love this book because Brian Clough is one of my idols, he is arrogant and alcoholic but also clever, obstinate and a motivator.
The book is for advanced English speaking people but I succeeded to finish it thanks to my good will...and the use of the dictionary :-)

  In the photo Brian Clough.

Naim Fatnassi:
The moors of Dartmoor, in Devon, the elder Sir Charles Baskervilles is found dead in the garden of his mansion, apparently dead by a big scare. His personal physician and friend, James Mortimer, is convinced that the head of the death is an horrible creature, which would be around the moors in the form of a giant mastiff. To solve the mystery and protect the young Sir Henry, the last member of the Baskervilles family, dr. Mortimer asks for help to Holmes. He rejects the idea of a curse, and asks to dr. Watson (his helper) to accompany dr. Mortimer and Sir Henry, to carry out the investigation. In the end Sherlock Holmes reveals the culprit: Jack Stapleton, son of Rodger Baskerville (who is the black sheep of the family) and the true nature of the Baskervillle mastiff. Holmes fails to catch the culprit, but finally in the run he falls in Grimpen swamps.
My opinion: i think it's a good book, but there are a lot of parts that do not make sense! So I would recommend this book to people who have great fantasy and love horror books.
Watch the trailer below to have some insight in the story:
Trailer film

So I figured that it was about time to start a thread for it.
This was the very first book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that I ever read. Probably because it's the most common of Sherlock Holmes's a librarian would advice you. Anyway having already developed a great love for Sherlock Holmes I was quite excited to get it home.
I was devastated. Holmes was barely in the book at all. From chapter six to chapter twelve there is only Watson and the insipid doings of the moor dwellers , which knid of freaked me out , but Idid enjoy it anyway , especially beacuse I loved the suspance it left in every single page, and the incredibly astonishing intelligence of Holmes that was able to gather all the pieces and put them toghether

Aurora Callarà
1L

Probably this book talks about one of the most famous love stories in the history. The mix between intelligence, beauty, womanliness of the main character Elizabeth and the mystery, charisma and elegance of Mr. Darcy make the novel full of plot twists. The difficulties of their love are many in a Great Britain at the beginning of the 19th century, where the social classes make the difference in the relatioships between two lovers. I've choosen this book becouse I've read it first in Italian and then I've tried to read it in English. I cannot hide that it was so diffucult for me because there were lots of word that I had never heard. Nevertheless I've enjoyed to read this book and I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to study English through the books. This fantastic story has taught me
never say never.
(Vitalia Ippolito)
