Sun flower seeds: These will demonstrate the plant when it is in its first stage as a seedling.

Flowers: To demonstrate the plant's final stage. You can also have students pick their flowers from outside so they can have a visual of their art piece.

Cotton Balls: This will be used to create the clouds that will produce the rain to water the seeds.

Color Pencils/Crayons: This will be used to use their imagination to make their art project colorful and to fill in the rest of the missing pieces of a plants life cycle.

This question allows the children to look at the whole plant and use their cognitive thinking to think about what the answer could be before learning.

Why do you think plants have roots?

Once the child starts thinking about how the plant gets their food this will open up the discussion to what each part of the plant is used for.

How are plants alike and different from animals?

Once the child knows how the plant creates its own food. The students should be able to recognize the similarities and differences between us. This should create a good discussion amongst the group.
