Bly's influence in his work came from his interest in myth, story telling, and meditation.

Attitude: The attitude in this poem is very gloomy at first because it talks about how the street is deserted and how the weather is very cold. But towards the end it is very peaceful because the person in the poem feels at peace mailing a letter late at night in private that they want to wast more time (wasting time might be peaceful for the person in the poem).
